What engines do Xfinity cars use?

NASCAR Xfinity Series is the stepping stone to one of the most illustrious genres in motorsports. It is the second level of NASCAR preceding the Cup Series. The talented drivers in the Xfinity Series often get contracts with current teams in NASCAR. There have been only six drivers however, who have managed to claim a championship in both Cup Series and Xfinity Series. NASCAR Xfinity Series serves as valuable experience to drivers who aim to win in the top level of stock car racing. The Xfinity Series has given birth to many great NASCAR drivers who set milestones in the Cup Series.

NASCAR Xfinity Series also serves as testing grounds for various teams that Cup Series drivers have founded. There are many active and retired Cup Series who currently also race in the Xfinity Series part-time. It was known as the NASCAR Nationwide Series but changed its name to Xfinity Series after it claimed sponsorship with Xfinity.

Engine in Xfinity Cars

The engines used in Xfinity cars do not differ much from their Cup Series counterparts. It's the same 358 cubic inch V8 engine which is naturally aspirated. Xfinity Series has the same manufacturers from Cup Series. They are Ford, Chevrolet and Toyota. They produce different cars for the Xfinity series but the engines remain intact. The Xfinity Series has the regular Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang and Toyota Supra. While, Cup Series uses five speed sequential transmission, Xfinity Series still uses four speed transmission in combination with their engines. The Xfinity cars are still mandated to use carburetors which have been disbanded in the Cup Series.

How much horsepower does a NASCAR Xfinity Car have?

NASCAR Xfinity cars have Naturally Aspirated V8s. This means that the horsepower and torque produced by the engine are the raw power of the engine. The average amount of maximum horsepower that can be reached by an Xfinity Series engine amounts to around 650-700 horsepower which is nearly similar to their Cup Series counterparts.

How long do NASCAR engines last?

NASCAR engines are built to perform at their peak performance throughout the race without a break and in any weather conditions. NASCAR mandates the use of the same car throughout the weekend from Practice sessions to Cup Series race. Thus, a NASCAR engine is built to last more than 500 miles. They are usually discarded after a race and not used again in the competition.
