İlkay Gündoğan is a German professional footballer who plays for Manchester City and the German National Team. He was born in Gelsenkirchen on 24th October, 1990.
Gundogan came through VFL Bochum's youth academy before moving to FC Nurnberg in 2009. In 2011, he switched Nurnberg for Borussia Dortmund and it was at the latter where he carved a niche for himself. The German made more than 100 appearances for Dortmund and cast himself as one of the world's most exciting midfield prospects.
In 2016, Manchester City came calling and he swapped the Bundesliga for the Premier League.
Internationally, he made his debut for Germany on 11th October, 2011 against Belgium.
