Juan Antonio GonzÃĄlez FernÃĄndez, also known as Juanan, is a Spanish professional footballer, who was born in Palma, Spain on 27 April 1987. He generally plays as a centre-back, but is also capable of filling in at left-back, when needed. He currently represents Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League.
Background
Juanan began his youth career with San Pedro in the year 1995 and served them for nine years. By the time he was 17 he played for RCD Mallorca and for two years, he played for San Francisco as well.
In 2011, Juanan made his official senior debut with Fortuna Dusseldorf against SC Paderborn 07.
He scored his first goal against the FC Erzgebirge Aue and wrapped up a 4-2 victory.
Club Career
Juanan has been part of B teams of Deportivo and Real Madrid. Also, he was signed by Ãjpest FC (Hungary), Recreativo de Huelva and CD LeganÊs. In the year 2016, he was signed by the Rayo OKC from the North American Soccer League.
Presently he plays for Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League. Along with John Johnson, he was a rock at the back, as the Blues made the ISL final in their first ever outing in the league in the 2017-18 season.
Juanan signed a two-year extension to his contract, ensuring he stays in Indiaâs Garden City until 2020.
