Patrick Reed’s Early Life and Background

American Professional golfer Patrick Nathaniel Reed, better known as Patrick Reed, was born on August 5, 1990, in San Antonio, Texas. Patrick was raised by his parents, Bill Reed and Jeannette Reed. He experienced his childhood with his younger sister Hannah Reed in San Antonio, Texas.


While attending University High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Patrick was an excellent golfer who proved his skills by winning the Junior Open Championship in 2006. Patrick led University High School to state championships in 2006 and 2007 and also won the state medalist honors in 2007. He earned Rolex AJGA All-America honors thrice in 2005, 2006, and 2007.


After completing school, Patrick started his college life in 2008 at the University of Georgia in Athens. However, he was kicked off the golf team for two alcohol violations and was arrested for underage drinking and possession of a fraudulent ID. Patrick transferred to Augusta State University after just one year at UGA. At Augusta State, Ptarick was again accused of wrongdoing multiple times after he allegedly shaved strokes off his scorecards. Patrick's teammates planned to dismiss him from the team but his coach stood with him. I


In his whole career, Patrick always tried his best to achieve his dream and played various tournaments to improve his skills on the course.

When Patrick Reed turned professional in 2011, he was just 20 years old. He played at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, which was his first PGA Tour event, where he missed the cut. In August 2013, Patrick achieved his first PGA Tour victory at the Wyndham Championship (2013). During his professional career, he won a total of 9 PGA Tour and 3 European Tour. Now he only plays on the LIV Golf and the European Tour. Reed reached his highest level with the rank of 6 in the Official World Golf Championship as of June 14, 2020. He also played each of the four major championships and finished in top 10 several times, including the victory in the 2018 Masters Tournament.

In 2012, he played 12 golf events, made 7 cuts and earned around $300,000. Then Patrick Reed tied for 11th at the Frys.com Open and 22nd at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament. His first professional victory came in 2013 at the Wyndham Championship. At the Humana Challenge in 2014, he earned his second win on the PGA Tour. In the following year he also won at the WGC-Cadillac Championship, being the youngest winner of a WGC event and earned $1.53 million. This great victory moved him to the 20th position in the Official World Golf Ranking.


In 2015, he gained his fourth PGA Tour title by defeating Jimmy Walker at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions and moved to 14th place in OWGR. He won at the Barclays in 2016, which was his first victory in the FedEx Cup and fifth win on the PGA Tour. After this, Patrick qualified automatically for the Ryders Cup. Later, he participated in the major championships and won the Masters Tournament (2018), which is his greatest victory of all time. He won numerous victories after this championship, including the Northern Trust (2019), WGC-Mexico Championship (2020), Farmers Insurance Open(2021) and so on. Later in 2022, Patrick resigned from the PGA Tour and entered LIV Golf.
