Castmate Greg Ellis has supported Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp. Ellis has continued to support Depp throughout his legal battle with Heard over the years. Greg Ellis has long supported Johnny Depp amid the latter’s legal woes following his divorce from ex-wife Amber Heard.
Shortly after Depp lost his 2020 U.K. libel case against The Sun for an article that referred to him as a “wife-beater,” Ellis told the Express that the actor was being “mischaracterized.” He also mentioned that he believes Depp will make a comeback in Hollywood.
Ellis further addressed Amber Heard’s allegations and said Johnny Depp became the victim of a culture that celebrates victimhood.
“[There’s] this reputation savaging that’s going on, this victimhood culture where victimhood is the new social currency and its economy is booming, and it’s been inflated.”
He also claimed that Johnny Depp was fired from Fantastic Beasts 3 amid his legal troubles as a result of “a fear of the media” and said that the actor should be signed for the sixth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean:
