10 Superstars who buried their differences with WWE

Sting

Paul Heyman and Brock LesnarNothing is permanent in the professional wrestling business. And this is applicable to the differences between Superstars and WWE as well. It is natural to have some friction due to the way in which wrestling business works. There is plenty of dirty backstage politics and drama going on but despite this, most of these stories have a happy ending. The happy ending is because of the willingness of superstars to bury the differences and Vince McMahon.Vince knows that running a billion dollar empire is not a cake walk and has been mighty professional about the relationships. Over the years, WWE has managed to rebuild some bridges that were earlier burnt. So here is a look at those superstars who helped WWE in the process even after major fallouts.

#10 Sting

Sting

It wouldn’t be fair to say that the relationship between Sting and WWE was highly tensed. Sting had his differences with WWE, but it was not as controversial as most of the other instances in the list.

One of the major reasons for Sting's friction with WWE was his loyalty towards WCW. Sting was firmly with WCW during the Monday Night Wars and refused to join WWE once WCW went out of business.

WWE did offer Sting a deal after the Monday Night Wars, but Sting did not like the direction in which WWE was heading. So he decided that it was better for him to spend his time elsewhere. Sting, however, finally signed a deal with WWE in 2014 and made his debut on the granddaddy of them all.

#9 Bruno Sammartino

Bruno Sammartino

Bruno Sammartino was the biggest triumph card of Vince McMahon Sr. back in the territory days. When Vince McMahon Jr. acquired the company from his father, he had a clear vision on where he wanted to take it. Vince's futuristic visions did not sit well with Bruno, who was a bit old-school. Bruno later blamed Vince for the drug use cases in WWE.

This friction between Vince and Bruno ran a long time and they did not talk for decades. In 2013, they buried the hatchet. And Bruno was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The reason for Bruno finally coming to terms with Vince was the current family friendly product.

#8 Goldust

Goldust

Goldust is one of WWE's most experienced superstars right now. He is a great asset both on and off the screen. But Goldust and WWE didn’t have such a good relationship over the years. Goldust has a history of leaving the company twice and getting fired in another instance. The epitome of their problems came during a shoot video that Goldust appeared in.

He accused Vince McMahon of being greedy. Goldust said that the only things Vince cared about was money. He also took shots in the way in which WWE took care of Owen Hart's death. With such a video making rounds, no one expected Goldust to be back in WWE. But it did happen and he is still one of the best wrestlers in the company.

#7 The Ultimate Warrior

Ultimate Warrior

The Ultimate Warrior had a rocky relationship with WWE. His first fallout with Vince McMahon came in 1991 when he asked for a pay-rise. Vince issued a suspension for Warrior's unprofessional behavior, but Warrior was back in the WWE just a year later. The second spell did not end pretty as well. McMahon once again released Warrior. The reason for this was Warrior's experimentation with growth hormones.

Warrior and WWE did not have any happy exchanges since and both parties took shots at each other. However, in 2013, Warrior made his return to the WWE and found a place in the company's video game. Next year, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame as well. Warrior passed away just months after his induction.

#6 Road Warrior Animal

Road Warrior Animal

Road Warriors did not have the best relationship with WWE. Both Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk were vocal when it came to criticizing Vince McMahon. They accused Vince of having a 'secret love' affair with Shawn Michaels.

All these and more shots were fired by the Road Warriors during a shoot video. However, after the passing away of Road Warrior Hawk, Animal made peace with WWE. The tag team was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011 and Animal gave an emotional speech during the same.

The Animal made numerous appearances for WWE before the Hall of Fame ceremony as well. With the friction he had with Vince McMahon, no one expected to see Animal wrestle in the WWE but it happened and the story so far, has a happy ending. It would have been great if Hawk had also made peace, unfortunately, he passed away early.

#5 Paul Heyman

Paul Heyman

Monday Night Wars was a period when three major promoters locked horns with each other. Eric Bischoff pulled strings for WCW, Paul Heyman for ECW and Vince McMahon for WWE. While it was a great period to have friction, Heyman and Vince built a friendly relationship. This relationship gave Heyman a job in WWE once ECW went bankrupt.

Heyman contributed a lot to WWE's growth after the Attitude Era. But when WWE had the idea of bringing back ECW as a new brand, things started getting rough. Heyman was frustrated with the way WWE treated ECW.

One thing led to another and finally, Vince and Heyman had a big fallout. Heyman left WWE and completely vanished from the wrestling business. However, when WWE brought Brock Lesnar back in 2012, Heyman started his new WWE spell forgetting everything that happened in the past.

#4 Eric Bischoff

BIschoff played the role of RAW GM during the RA era

Eric Bischoff was someone who was dead bound on running WWE out of business. He did every dirty trick in the book for the same and eventually failed in doing so. Back during his spell with WCW, Vince and Eric would have torn each other up if they had met in person. It was one of the biggest rivalries in wrestling history, but Bischoff surprised everyone when he started working for WWE.

Vince, being a professional signed up Bischoff as an Authority figure and gave him space for creative input. It worked well and Bischoff ended up being a great heel. The spell was memorable and Bischoff later joined TNA. However, unlike his run with WCW, the friction between WWE and Bischoff had cooled significantly this time around.

#3 Steve Austin

Stone Cold Steve Austin

Steve Austin will always be in the history books as “The WWE legend.” He was one of the pillars around which Vince McMahon shaped the Attitude Era. Austin was the biggest star of Vince but in 2002, the relationship between Austin and WWE came crashing down. The reason for this was creative differences.

Vince wanted Austin to put over Brock Lesnar in a qualification match of King of the Ring. Austin refused to do the same. Austin did not want to have a match with Lesnar at that point since it had no buildup. In the end, Austin walked away from the company. The Texas Rattlesnake, however, came back to WWE and the two parties are in good terms now.

#2 Brock Lesnar

“The Beast” Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar is currently WWE's biggest draw. He is in the WWE Championship picture and gives out excellent matches whenever required. Back in 2004, it was an entirely different story. Brock was perhaps WWE’s worst nightmare then.

WWE invested heavily in Lesnar's initial run. He was pushed to the top but after two years, Lesnar wanted to try out NFL. He left WWE for NFL with a non-compete clause that restricted him from wrestling for any other company.

Once his NFL dreams bombed, Lesnar filed a lawsuit against WWE so that he could wrestle again. The case was finally settled outside court and the relationship between Lesnar and WWE was back in track.

#1 Bret Hart

Bret Hart

You would have guessed Bret's name already. After what happened in Montreal, no one expected to see Bret Hart back inside a WWE ring. Anyone who is familiar with the wrestling business would know everything about the Montreal Screwjob and it needs no explanation. Bret was furious with Vince McMahon and things detoriorated further with the death of Owen Hart.

Hart stayed away from WWE even after WCW went out of business. He finally forgot the differences and joined hands with WWE in 2005. It was, however, for the production of a DVD and the fans had to wait another five years to see him inside the WWE squared circle. Bret went on to have some matches and even won the United States Championship again.
