WWE Night of Champions 2014 : 5 Ways in which WWE can ruin the Pay-Per-View

SummerSlam proved to be WWE’s best pay-per-view outing in 2014. The company had a lot of opportunities to ruin the show but stuck with what the fans wanted and came out with an excellent final product.Delivering a good pay-per-view however would not give the creative some breathing space as they already have the pressure of Night of Champions on their head. While it was the Big – four factor that made the SummerSlam so important, Network renewals are making NOC a must deliver scenario. WWE can’t afford to slip, so here is a look at some of the things that they should avoid doing at the Bridgestone Arena on September 21.

#5 Nikki Bella winning divas championship

The WWE divas title was finally beginning to look important as AJ Lee and Paige were running behind it like lunatics. Both AJ and Paige excelled both inside and outside the ring when it matter and no one would’ve minded seeing another match between the two.

Writer however decided to complicate matter by having Nikki Bella in the mix. There is nothing wrong with Nikki being in the match if it allows building some more friction between the Bella twins but the prospect of Nikki winning the title should be taken out of the situation.

With the backing she has from Stephanie McMahon, Nikki is the favorite to walk out with the gold so that she could feud with Brie.

Having two unpolished in ring performers fight for the title would be an idiotic decision while AJ Lee and Paige will be left with nothing. AJ could go up against Stephanie at some point but this still leaves Paige unattended which is not what she deserves.

#4 Excessive SummerSlam rematches

Considering how well SummerSlam went, no one can blame WWE if they put out the exact card at Night of Champions. The Cena – Lesnar, Ziggler – Miz matches are exact replicas of the booking at SummerSlam and there is two more matches that might follow the lead.

Bray Wyatt – Jericho and Reigns - Orton matches looks likely to be in the NOC card as well which might turn out to be a bad move by the writers.

The angle between Bray and Jericho is nowhere near successful making another pay-per-view match a foolish option. They are also facing off in a steel cage match at Raw which should be the end of this feud.

Reigns on the other hand should move on to something bigger than Orton as the viper’s stale character wouldn’t allow him to grow.

#3 Having two mid card title matches

At this point, both the Intercontinental championship and United States championship will be defended in two separate matches. Sheamus will be defending against Cesaro while Ziggler will defend against the former champion, Miz.

All four men involved in the two matches have been intertwining in singles and tag matches over the few weeks showing an immense amount of chemistry.

Usually in a pay-per-view, the company can put together a maximum of eight matches including the pre-show one. Keeping away two from that for midcard titles isn’t something that the company can afford.

Instead, they could just put all four men in a fatal four way to unify the championships. This would benefit everyone for the longer run, and let WWE add more matches to make NOC look better.

#2 Not bringing back Dean Ambrose

Taking Ambrose out for filming a movie while he was the hottest baby face in the company is proving costly for the creative.

The WWE Universe is clearly missing the spontaneity and unpredictability that Ambrose had in the table. Absence of Daniel Bryan was slowly being masked by the lunatic fringe however once he went out, WWE had no one to represent the emotions of the fans.

At SummerSlam, Ambrose and Rollins blew off the roof with their match. it is too late to have a rematch at NOC but the pay-per-view could play host to Ambrose’s return.

His energy is what everyone needs desperately in a card which had practically no match to look forward to apart from the main event.

#1 Cena beating Lesnar

The most intriguing storyline heading into NOC is the David and Goliath battle between Cena and Lesnar. Last time the two faced, Cena ended up getting the worst beating of his life which all of a sudden drew mainstream attention from everywhere.

Understanding that the feud is too good to conclude with just one match, WWE suddenly booked a rematch at NOC meaning that Cena would get his chance of redemption.

The next task was to make Cena look like he was up to the challenge. Destruction of Wyatt family and standing up to the Authority was for this purpose. Cena is heading strong into the match even after the result at SummerSlam.

Despite the strong booking, the last thing WWE would want will be to let Cena win. It would make crash all the value that Lesnar has at this point and let the fans stamp their doubts that nothing is above the Cenation leader.
