Top 5 ugliest titles in Wrestling

Broken and beaten up ‘Title belt’

Even though the spinner had a lot of takers, it was awful to say the least!Title belts are very important in pro wrestling. They serve as the primary motivation for most superstars as they attempt to reach the pinnacle of their sport that makes the Title belts all the more prestigious. It was considered a huge deal when the likes of the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin got their own titles. Even though they are legends in their own right, custom titles are a big deal. Of course, they would become a little more of a commonplace, often taking away from the aura of the title. In this article, I will focus on the ugliest title belts in wrestling. This could include different versions of the same belt. Without further ado, the top five ugliest title belts in wrestling are *drumroll please*-

#5 WWE hardcore title

Broken and beaten up ‘Title belt’

Mick Foley was the first ever holder of this belt, and he admitted on the Monday Night War DVD, he hated it and I really don’t blame him. It was an old belt that was smashed up and literally duct taped back together to make it look ‘EXTREEMEEE’ and the word ‘HARDCORE’ was written on the tape.

The belt looked ugly and I imagine it was hard to carry around as well.

Although the hardcore division had its niche in WWE and was quite popular and entertaining, it could have done it with a better belt that at least looked more appealing. The belt failed to make the division look unhinged, instead making the titleholders look stupid.

#4 Divas title

Just going to leave this here...

Ah yes. The butterfly belt. I never understood the thinking behind the idea to change the women’s division to the divas division and ripping up the history of the Women's championship (Laycool cutting it into 2 anyone?) to present a toy that was supposed to look like a wrestling title.

A title for a combat sport had a butterfly on it. It is hardly surprising it wasn't taken seriously as it didn't deserve to be.

#3 John Cena spinner belt

Spinners belong on cars, not wrestling titles

This one has made a lot of noise over the years.

John Cena was once a thug rapper, and turned the world title into a spinner – the things meant for car rims – not belts in WWE. There came a point when WWE made it stop spinning, but it still looked ugly, all uneven and bulky, awkward to carry.

The one interesting fact – Jim Ross said this was the most requested item from WWE shop. A part of me feels that’s a lie and even if it’s not, I refuse to admit otherwise because this was not a prestigious title belt, but rather a glorified toy that spun.

It has since been (thankfully) retired.

#2 Rated R WWE Title

As great Edge as was, this title was horrible.

Right. No 2 on our list is Edge’s custom Rated R WWE championship belt. It may not have lasted for too long, but it was a pain to look at.

Also, it’s a spinner belt which is, in my opinion is the worst kind of belt there is. There is another huge glaring error here. The WWE logo isn’t there on the title, instead replaced by Edge’s ‘Rated R superstar’ logo.

The title was also extremely bulky and looked clunky on Edge’s shoulders. The red coloured star is attention-grabbing for all the wrong reasons (notice a pattern?). Red doesn’t go well on title belts. Thankfully, the title would go away.

The sole reason this belt is worse than the Cena spinner(s) is that those had the WWE logo.

#1 Jeff Hardy Immortal TNA belt.

Yeah... this was for real

Who could have possibly guessed that a championship belt designed by Jeff Hardy of all people would have had a hideous look to it? Oh, that’s right: Anybody but those who were working for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling at the time.

Hardy’s old championship belt was way more freaky than it was glorious, and it has a Halloween mask feel to it, in which the face on the top of it resembled something that would come out of a Legend of Zelda game.

Hardy is not the first nor will he be the last champion to have a belt designed to his liking, but both he and TNA swung and missed badly with this design because if you look at it, it truly is the worst looking title belt in wrestling.
