The Kandy-based franchise called Kandy Tuskers will be one of the five teams to compete in the Lankan Premier League (LPL) 2020. They will aim for the title win in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2020. The Tuskers have bowlers aplenty and just the right balance of big hitters in the batting department. They can beat any team on their day but can crumble pretty soon if the batsmen have anything close to an off-day. They will be playing the tournament opener against the Colombo Kings.

- Interesting Players to Watch out for
The Tuskers have signed aggressive batsmen like Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera and Asela Gunaratne for the inaugural edition of the LPL. The two Kusals will have to take responsibility for the batting if the other aggressive batsmen fail to get going. They will also be supported by the bowling all-rounder Dilruwan Perera.
They have plenty of bowlers to choose from and that is a good headache to have for a captain. Seamer Nuwan Pradeep will be leading the bowling attack for the Tuskers. Two spinners Seekkuge Prasanna and Lasith Embuldeniya might be the X-factors for the Kandy Tuskers if the pitches in Sri Lanka do not have a green covering lasting over the 21 days.
The greatest-ever T20 batsman and self-proclaimed Universe Boss, Chris Gayle will be representing the Tuskers in the LPL. It will not be an exaggeration to say that if the Jamaican cricketer has a significant season, the Kandy side will have very less to do for winning the title. The southpaw can turn matches in his team’s favour very early into the innings and the pressure will be thrust on the opposition pretty soon.
Interesting Players to Watch out for
England seamer Liam Plunkett will tearaway batting attacks if the ball gets some spongy bounce. His front-on action produces the necessary pace to surprise batsmen at any point in the innings.
Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Sohail Khan have bought the Kandy Tuskers franchise.
