What's the story?

The star attraction of the month of February is undoubtedly the 14th and it seems like former World Number 9 and German ace Andrea Petkovic has been bitten by the Valentine bug too. Taking to Twitter, the 30-year-old German won innumerable hearts by cracking a joke that went viral after her post.

In case you didn't know...

Petkovic has been a frequent quarter-finalist in many of the Grand Slams over the years. Aside from her professional tennis career, she has been known to have an incredible sense of humour in the tennis circuit.

The German runs a pretty successful YouTube channel called "Petkorazzi". In the video blog, she pokes fun at herself, interacts with her fans and gives them a sneak peek into the tour life.

The heart of the matter

Retweeting to Johnny Ballgame, who said that to tennis players 'love' means 'nothing', Petkovic decided to make the most of this season of love all around and very cheekily cracked a joke. She asked her fans, 'What do female tennis players do after a breakup?'

And, her remedial answer to this was pregnant with pun and wit.

After she posted this tweet, it took only a few moments to go viral with thousands of fans from her home country Germany to all over the world retweeting this subtly hilarious remark!

Soon after, Petkovic even mockingly tweeted that she won't be back on Twitter for a while now given the huge fuss over her cheeky joke.

What's next?

After this exchange of tweets, it's quite probable that Petkovic will be back with many more of such outrightly cheeky jokes on tennis and so much else and appeal to the hearts of her fans all over the world. After all, who doesn't love to have a good laugh?

Author's take

There is nothing more funny and heart-warming to see the other side of players and Andrea Petkovic does just that. These flashes of the funny side and her spirit of making such light-hearted jokes make her so much more relatable too.

The current World Number 106 has always been known to be a very jovial person, given her immensely entertaining vlogs on her Youtube channel. These tweets on Valentine's Day jokes simply tell us just how funny she can be and dauntlessly cheeky and in-your-face. Also, we really hope that she doesn't abandon Twitter like she tweeted she'll do!
