"I hope I have the grace that Roger Federer has and the fight that Rafael Nadal has" - Sebastian Korda's sister Nelly Korda

Sebastian Korda's sister and star golfer Nelly Korda recently expressed her admiration for Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. She also mentioned that she hopes to emulate the 'grace' of the Swiss Maestro and the 'fighting spirit' of the Spaniard.

Nelly's comments came after she secured her sixth LPGA Tour title of the year and 14th overall at the Mizuho Americas Open on May 19. With this victory, the World No. 1 became the first American to win six or more times in a season since Beth Daniel won seven times in 1990.

Before turning her attention to the US Women's Open at the Lancaster Country Club, which begins on May 30, Nelly spoke to the media about Federer and Nadal, saying:

"I think I have always had this mentality. I have always given it 100%. I have had. I have looked up to great athletes like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer."

"I hope I have the grace that Federer has and then the fight that Nadal has. Just having people that I've looked up to and I've seen and I've admired, I hope that's something that I carry onto the golf course," she added.

During the same press conference after her title win at the Mizuho Americas Open, Nelly Korda mentioned that she thinks her game is more akin to Rafael Nadal's, as she considers herself more of a fighter rather than showcasing grace like Roger Federer.

"Definitely way more [Rafael] Nadal today versus [Roger] Federer," Nelly said. "There's not much grace in my game, there's a lot of fight out there with it being head to head battle all the way down 18."

The 25-year-old added:

"That's what makes sports so great, that even though you don't have your best stuff, you can still grind it out. You feel the adrenaline, you feel all the feelings going down 18."

While Nelly Korda's interest peaked in golf, her younger brother Sebastian chose tennis and has built a promising career, with one ATP Tour title and a quarterfinal appearance at the Australian Open. Their older sister, Jessica, is also a golfer and competes on the LPGA Tour.

The trio comes from a rich sports legacy, as their father Petr is a former men's World No. 2 tennis player and Grand Slam champion, while their mother Regina Rajchrtova also played the sport professionally.
