Boris Becker and his family were recently seen paying tribute to his late mother during an emotional funeral ceremony in Leimen, Baden-Württemberg. Elvira Becker, his mother, passed away at the age of 89 on November 21, 2024, just one day before Boris turned 57.
She was a pillar of support to Becker throughout his career and was present when he clinched his first Wimbledon title in 1985, becoming the youngest man to win the tournament at the age of 17.
Boris Becker also has a sister, Sabine Becker-Schorp. His family played a crucial role in his tennis success. His father, Karl-Heinz Becker, helped nurture Boris's talent by founding a tennis center in Leimen, where his tennis journey began.
On Monday, Becker shared a couple of pictures on his Instagram feed, showing him, his wife Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro, and family members in a church in Leimen. The photos captured their solemn moments, including them blowing out candles in front of his mother's coffin as they paid their final respects. The coffin was adorned with ribbons bearing the names of her children and grandchildren.
In the caption of the post, he expressed love and appreciation for his late mother, Elvira Becker, acknowledging her role as both a mother and grandmother to four of his children.

Following the passing of his mother, Elvira Becker, the former World No. 1 took to Instagram to share a heartfelt note, and attached an old photo of him as a toddler in a stroller, with his mother pushing him. He wrote:
“My dear mother has left us... I owe everything I have achieved in life to you. It is a great pain that I feel at the moment, but you gave birth to me 57 years ago today and made me a strong man.
It was the first snowfall in Leimen and today it is snowing again. My sister Sabine and I would like to thank you for the great respect and love you have shown my mother. Rest in peace, Elvira.”
After a well-decorated career, Boris Becker retired following 15 years on the ATP Tour. He won a total of 49 career titles, including six Grand Slams. Becker has also thrived in coaching, working with Novak Djokovic to secure 25 ATP titles together. He also took on a brief coaching role with Danish star Holger Rune.
