"Overall I would say from just this match, I feel more negative emotions right now. Like, looking at the whole tournament from where I started to now, I definitely feel like it's major improvement. Against probably anybody else today, I would have won the match," Gauff said during the post-match press-conference.

Tennis fans were appalled by the World No. 3's comments downplaying her defeat to Swiatek. They shared their opinions on the same on social media.

Another fan criticized Coco Gauff for always appearing boastful even in defeat. Many fans dismissed the American's claims as delusional, pointing out that other top players like Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina could easily outmatch her on the court.

"Keep telling yourself that coco, but it is not true. Iga was playing with one eye shut. coco loves to brag on herself even when she loses," a fan posted.

"She really got used to those super easy draws. Don't think she would have beaten any of the big 3 today," a fan wrote.
"Coco played well today but [Aryna] Sabalenka sure would have beaten her today as well, and Elena [Rybakina] if she had been healthy…" a fan posted.

Many questioned as to who were "gassing up" Coco Gauff into believing that she could have triumphed over any other opponent in place of Iga Swiatek.

"Who is gassing Coco up . She played well today no doubt but she is not beating Sabalenka , Collins or Rybakina with that display today . She should rest," a fan posted.
"They're out here gassing up a 6-4 6-3 loss," a fan wrote.

Another remarked that Gauff's statements reflected "blindness" and not "confidence."

"That's not confidence, that's blindness. She'd not beat anybody else besides Iga at all. Sabalenka would kill her passivity game most of the time, she made Iga look like a basher, 16 winners," a fan posted.

Gauff stated that her intention was to play aggressively and she was happy that she was able to execute this strategy during the match

"I wanted to be aggressive, which I felt like I did. I think I missed some balls in some clutch moments. That's what being aggressive is. I think if I continue to play in this way, I will be more consistent in that," she added.
