The Balexert shopping center in Geneva recently revealed their stunning tribute to tennis great Roger Federer. The Swiss shopping center unveiled a portrait commemorating Federer's all-time career wins.

Roger Federer has left an eternal legacy in the game of tennis. The Swiss maestro hung up his tennis boots in 2022 following a star-studded event at the Laver Cup, where he partnered with long-time rival and friend Rafael Nadal in the doubles in his last professional match.

Since then, the 20-time Grand Slam winner has been enjoying his post-retirement life. The 41-year-old was seen playing padel in Dubai in January.

The shopping center Balexert recently unveiled a portrait created by artist Denis Sadgiç as an homage to the Swiss icon. The portrait is made up of 1251 gift cards, which emphasize Federer's overall career victories.

Sadgic is well-known for crafting art using recycled products such as jeans and plastic. A statement by Balexert read:

"As part of a process to recover obsolete materials, Balexert called on the artist Denis Sağdıç to give new life to gift cards. This painter, - a specialist in upcycling - creates portraits using all kinds of recycled materials, such as jeans, fabric, plastic, or buttons."

The shopping center further elaborated on its tribute to the legend:

"The year 2022 marking the official end of the exceptional career of Roger Federer, it is through the realization of his portrait that Balexert wished to pay tribute to the one who will have undeniably marked the history of tennis, among others by winning 1,251 matches, almost as many as the number of cards it took to complete this table."

The former World No. 1 recently expressed his desire to be a part of the 2023 edition of the Laver Cup.

The tennis icon's 2022 Laver Cup campaign was a teary-eyed affair, with the likes of Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray all coming and featuring for Team Europe alongside Federer.

In 2023, the tournament will be held in Vancouver, and the Swiss might return as a non-playing team member.

"Looking forward to seeing everyone in Vancouver," the 41-year-old wrote on Instagram, reacting to a Laver Cup build-up post.

Federer is expected to don the hat of the mentor for Team Europe in 2023.
