Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna wants more tennis players to support Novak Djokovic’s Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA).

Founded by Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil in 2019, the PTPA got off to a rocky start. Back then it was criticized by the ATP and WTA as well as tennis players like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Nonetheless, the PTPA is now slowly but surely gaining a foothold among tennis players. Things are finally starting to look bright for the organization.

Recently, 2017 Grand Slam mixed-doubles champion Rohan Bopanna stated that he was proud to be a part of the players' association. He also claimed that an organization such as the one formed by Novak Djokovic was the “need of the hour.”

“I am proud to be part of the Professional Tennis Players Association, the PTPA. I really believe it’s a need of the hour,” he said.

The Indian athlete further stated that the PTPA wasn’t needed just for addressing the issues faced by current tennis players, but also to create a better future. Bopanna believes the organization can help provide opportunities for upcoming talents.

“We as current professional tennis players need to have one voice in order to really push for more transparency, more opportunities not only for us as tennis players currently who are playing, but also for the future generations of tennis players,” Rohan Bopanna said.

The 42-year-old thanked the PTPA for helping out and urged other tennis players to support the association and stand in unity for the beneficial cause.

“We have to believe in the power of our voices and together we can really make this change for the betterment of our sport. So let’s all go out there, support PTPA to really be that one voice to make a difference in our sport and bring the change what is really going to benefit for all us professional tennis players. Thank you PTPA for helping all of us,” he concluded.
