Jelena Ostapenko's eye-catching outfit at the 2024 French Open has drawn hilarious reactions from tennis fans. Known for her penchant for flashy and bold designs, the Latvian's kits often steal the spotlight during her matches.

Entering the French Open as the ninth seed, Ostapenko made a strong start to her campaign with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Jacqueline Cristian in an hour and 39 minutes. The 26-year-old will continue her quest for her second title at the claycourt Major against Clara Tauson in the second round.

Apart from Ostapenko's impressive victory, it was her vibrant ensemble by clothing sponsor DK One, a Latvian sportswear brand, that caught attention as the World No. 11 donned a color-blocked salmon pink and sky blue outfit.

Jelena Ostapenko is known for sporting some of the most eye-catching and flamboyant outfits on tour, often sparking amusement in the tennis community for her daring fashion choices.

The Latvian's French Open outfit was no exception as fans hilariously poked fun at the design.

"In all seriousness though. It looks like her grandmother had left over polyester pieces and sewed together a tennis kit from the scraps," one fan commented.
"This commitment to ugly kits is wild! It’s going to be a full season of them!" another fan chimed in.
"Better than most of her outfits but still has some circus vibes," a fan shared.
"It’s so bad that it looks good," said yet another.

Several fans also joked that only the World No. 11 could pull off such outfits with style.

"Only she can make these kits look soo good. Queen," one fan posted.
"Whatever she’s putting out there fits her well, so for me it looks lit," wrote another.

Meanwhile, others drew a parallel with Jelena Ostapenko's 2017 French Open outfit, predicting a repeat of her title-winning performance.

"It's giving her 2017 run outfit and yes she is taking it all," one fan commented.
"I actually like it for her. And it’s kind of referencing her 2017 kit with the skirt panels," another fan chimed in.

During her Madrid Open campaign in the lead-up to the French Open, Jelena Ostapenko opened up about her involvement in the design of her eye-catching outfits.

Speaking to Prakash Amritraj on the Tennis Channel, the Latvian disclosed that she collaborated closely with her designer, giving her say on the choice of colors and the fit of the ensemble.

"I mean, of course, I choose the colors and the way the dress is. So, I talk with the girl who is doing it so we both are working on it. Of course, I don't want to wear something I don't like," she said.

If Jelena Ostapenko triumphs over Clara Tauson in the second round of the French Open, she will take on Sofia Kenin or Caroline Garcia in a blockbuster third-round clash.
