She has won eight WTA singles titles, including the 2017 French Open, where she defeated former world No. 1 Simona Halep in the final. She achieved her career-best singles of No. 5 in 2018 and is ranked No. 12 by the WTA as of September 2024.
The 27-year-old has also earned fame in the doubles category and has won nine WTA doubles titles, including the 2024 US Open where she won her first doubles major alongside Lyudmyla Kichenok. Apart from this, her best Grand Slam record in the doubles category is seen at the 2024 Australian Open, where she reached the finals. She, along with Lyudmyla Kichenok, defeated the reigning US Open champion Erin Routliffe and Gabriela Dabrowski in the semifinals. The pair lost to second seed Elise Mertens and Hsieh Su-wei in straight sets in the finals.

Jelena Ostapenko loves playing on grass and hard courts, and her favourite Grand Slam tournament is Wimbledon. Like many other WTA stars, she relies heavily on her powerful groundstrokes to overhaul anybody who stands in her path. A drawback to the Latvian is the fact that her temperament can occasionally get the better of her, leading to some rash decisions.
