Instagram has grown in popularity over the past few years to the point where WWE is now using this as a platform for news much like Facebook and Twitter. Instagram was once seen as a site where celebs could share images of their life much like a photo album but it has become so popular that there are some stars who are now known as "Instagram famous" because they have gained so many followers.

Whilst there are a number of wrestlers such as Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt don't have Instagram because it isn't something that would fit in with their character, there are many others who have taken advantage of the platform WWE has given them and taken it over onto Instagram.

Updating regular, interactive content is one of the main reasons why these superstars are the most followed wrestlers in the world on Instagram.

#11 Charlotte Flair - 2.9 million

The Queen of WWE TV comes in at number 11 when it comes to most followed WWE superstars on Instagram with 2.9 million followers, which is interestingly the same amount as her best friend Becky Lynch.

Flair keeps many of her loyal fans updated with her exploits on her Instagram page, but is currently out of action after being forced to undergo surgery. Flair is seen as one of the best female wrestlers in WWE history but when it comes to Instagram it was thought that she would be much higher up the list, but Instagram is a strange place and doesn't necessarily reflect the popularity of WWE stars, but how active they are on the social media site.

#10 Natalya - 3 million

Natalya has always been active on her Instagram page and much like many of the stars of Total Divas, she has been able to pick up quite a following. Even though Natalya splits her time between her own Instagram page and the ones that she has created for her cats, she has still been able to amass more than three million followers.

The former Women's Champion is one of the longest-tenured female performers in WWE right now and remains close to many of her fans on both Instagram and Twitter, which could be why she is inside the top ten most followed WWE stars on social media.

#9 Sasha Banks - 3.3 million

Sasha Banks has always been considered an internet darling since the former Women's Champion has such a bold and passionate following on social media. Banks has always been a firm supporter of her fans and even though she is currently stuck in an endless feud with Bayley, her fanbase are right behind her.

Interestingly, Sasha has more followers on Instagram than current Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, Dolph Ziggler, Nia Jax and even Total Divas star Natalya.

#8 Seth Rollins - 3.5 million

Seth Rollins is the only former member of The Shield who has embraced Social Media and all of its aspects. The former World Champion has a huge following online and likes to use his Instagram and Twitter pages to promote his Black and Brave training school as well as his upcoming merchandise releases.

Whilst Rollins uses his Twitter page to share out his love of music, his Instagram is where The Architect is able to show off his incredible workouts and promote some of the newest fitness equipment he has been using.

#7 Randy Orton - 4.4 million

Randy Orton is third generation superstar and a 13 time World Champion who has completely dominated the wrestling world over the past two decades alongside John Cena. Much like many of the older generation of wrestlers, Orton is quite new to the Social Media aspect of the business and he has been forced to adapt to the Internet invasion of wrestling.

Whilst there are many old school wrestlers like Kane and The Undertaker who haven't decided to create an Instagram page and share their personal life with the WWE Universe, Orton is someone who has embraced the changes in the business in recent years and currently boasts more than 4 million followers on Instagram.

#6 Paige - 4.7 million

Paige is a former Divas Champion and the current General Manager of SmackDown Live, even though her career was cut short by a neck injury, the former Champion has been able to reinvent herself at the helm of WWE's Tuesday night show and this could be one of the main reasons why she has been able to pick up so many followers online.

Paige has always had a knack for connecting with her fanbase and even throughout the struggles that she endured back in 2017, fans supported her through and she has remained active online to ensure that her fanbase are always informed about her life both inside and outside of the ring.

#5 Triple H - 5.2 million

It probably isn't that much of a shock that the COO of WWE and the man behind the rise of NXT is one of the most followed WWE superstars on Instagram. Interestingly, his wife Stephanie McMahon only has 1.1 million followers on Instagram, but Triple H has already passed more than 5 million followers.

The Game often uses Social Media to share images of new signings to NXT as well as updates about the NXT locker room, which could be why he has been able to pick up so many followers. Triple H is doing some great things in both NXT and the UK right now and the WWE Universe wants to be a part of that.

#4 Brie Bella - 6 million

Brie Bella technically retired from WWE back at WrestleMania 32 and has since given birth to her daughter Birdie Joe, someone that she shares a number of images of on her Instagram page. Brie did make a recent appearance as part of the Women's Royal Rumble match in January and is still an integral part of Total Divas and Total Bellas.

The former Divas Champion is hoping to make her return to the WWE in the near future but since she is currently promoting two companies as well as looking after her daughter, she has quite an entertaining life which could be why the WWE Universe like to stay up to date with her lifestyle.

#3 Nikki Bella - 7.5 million

Nikki and Brie Bella share a Twitter page, but when it comes to Instagram the two sisters have decided to have their own separate pages and have amassed quite the following between them.

Nikki has continued to push her popularity outside of the ring in recent months after her appearance on Dancing With The Stars, which could be why she has attracted a number of fans who aren't fluent with the wrestling business. Between them, The Bella Twins have more followers than any other wrestler in WWE, which is quite an achievement for two women who got their start in the WWE Diva Search.

#2 John Cena - 9.7 million

John Cena is the best known current WWE superstar in the world, he can rap, act, wrestle and even writes a lot of his own work, which shows just how valuable he has become to the company. Cena is a 16-time World Champion and has granted more wishes to the WWE Universe than any other superstar, even though he has been away from the company ever since The Greatest Royal Rumble, he is still seen on Total Bellas.

Cena is also advertised for the upcoming show in Australia in October, whilst speculation suggests that he could be back in time for SummerSlam, so even though Cena isn't currently active on WWE TV, he's still someone that the WWE Universe like to keep up with on Instagram which is why he is close to reaching 10 million followers on the social media site.

Unlike many WWE superstars, Cena only uploads random images for the WWE Universe to decipher themselves, but back in 2017 he completely trolled the wrestling world when he posted an image of NJPW star Kenny Omega as a way to hint that he would be part of The Royal Rumble.

#1 Ronda Rousey - 10.9 million

It's still hard to believe that former UFC star Ronda Rousey is now part of WWE's Women's Division and last month she was seconds away from becoming Raw Women's Champion. Rousey is unique in the fact that she already had a following before she joined the company and she has since been able to convert a number of MMA fans ever since she debuted at The Royal Rumble back in January.

Her exploits in MMA earned her the nickname of "The baddest woman on the planet" and so far she has been able to live up to the hype. Her 10.9 million Instagram followers only serve to reflect just how popular Rousey is no matter what sport she decides to try her hand at.
