It was a historic, yet bittersweet night of professional wrestling action in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for the fifth, and final WrestleCade event.
Yes, after five successful years, the bookers and promoters of WrestleCade have called it quits, and while many fans are left puzzled by this announcement, WrestleCade management promises a "huge announcement" coming up after the New Year.
Nevertheless, this year's event proved to be the biggest of all the previous four, and the star power certainly helped assure that very fact. There were some heavy-hitters that made appearances for autograph sessions and photo-ops.
Some of those in attendance included Ric Flair, Sting, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, Scott Hall, Rock-n-Roll Express, Beautiful Bobby Eaton, The Steiner Brothers, Zeb Colter, Hacksaw Jim Duggan...and yes, even the newest superstar of WWE Smackdown Live, James Ellsworth.
These were just a few of the names who made their way out to The Benton Convention Center for the three-day spectacle. As we previously reported, Cody Rhodes made his appearance on the first night of WrestleCade, at the Showcase of Champions.
Cody actually defeated Sonjay Dutt to capture the Global Force Wrestling Nex*Gen Championship. The Showcase of Champions was mostly a night which featured many of the top independent names from GFW, as well as AML (America's Most Liked) Wrestling. The headlining night would come on Saturday night, November 26th. Here's a look at those results.
