The Royal Rumble is one of the most popular WWE PPVs of the year, and the battle royal match is possibly the most exciting match in the year. A strong showing in the Royal Rumble can really help put a WWE Superstar on the map and help in getting a push.

The 2019 Royal Rumble will be held at the Chase Stadium on January 27th, 2019, and one of the main matches will be the 30-man Royal Rumble match, with the winner getting a shot at the WWE Championship or the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35.

A win at the Royal Rumble will give the winner huge momentum going into the Show of Shows in April, and possibly walk away from WrestleMania 35 with gold around his waist.

Here, let us look at 5 Superstars who desperately need to win the 2019 WWE men's Royal Rumble match:

#5 Kevin Owens

Since moving to RAW last year, Kevin Owens had a rather underwhelming 2018, not featuring in prominent storylines and then taking time off to get surgery on both his knees.

A few weeks ago, WWE announced that The Prizefighter will return to RAW, fully recuperated after his surgery, and will most likely be a babyface on RAW.

Owens could be one of the surprise entrants in the Royal Rumble, and a win for him in the 30-man Royal Rumble match will give him great momentum as we head towards WrestleMania.

The former Universal champion is great in the ring and one of the best in WWE on the mic, and has the ability to be a great heel or face. He will need to get back into the scheme of things at the top of the card, and a win at Royal Rumble will do exactly that for Owens.

Perhaps he could team up with Sami Zayn once again, and the two can work together to get a Royal Rumble win.

#4 The Miz

The Miz

The Miz is currently in a storyline with Shane McMahon, where the duo are tag team partners, but I have a feeling this is not going to end well, and The Miz will eventually turn his back on Shane and double-cross him.

One of the most eagerly awaited feuds in recent times was between The Miz and Daniel Bryan, and although their feud did not deliver to the expectations that the WWE Universe had for it, it was much better than most other feuds in WWE in 2018.

Could we see a feud between Bryan and Miz reignited in the coming months, culminating in a match at WrestleMania 35? Well, if WWE want to go down that route, we could maybe see The Miz win the Royal Rumble match and book a match with Bryan at WrestleMania 35.

The Miz's current storyline hasn't quite captured the WWE Universe's imagination, and it is time they drop it.

#3 Bray Wyatt

Many fans would have forgotten that Bray Wyatt is still a part of WWE and RAW. Wyatt had a terrible 2018 despite holding the RAW Tag Team titles with Matt Hardy. He's had a few terrible feuds lately, and has been off television since Hardy stepped away from the ring to recuperate from his injuries.

The 2019 Royal Rumble could be a great way for WWE to re-introduce Wyatt, maybe with a refreshed gimmick that will bring him back in the reckoning at the top of the card.

Wyatt's gimmick of being a mysterious, creepy wrestler is one that is seldom seen on WWE television. WWE need to refresh his character and unleash a new demon, maybe even reform The Wyatt Family, helping Strowman win the Universal title from Brock Lesnar.

Wyatt's entry in the Royal Rumble could be a surprise one and a win for him will certainly help him get back to the top.

#2 Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn

Like his compatriot Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn has been out due to injury, having suffered a shoulder injury which has put him on the shelf almost seven months. Zayn's return was also announced by the WWE recently, and he could be another Superstar who could be a surprise addition to the Royal Rumble match.

Zayn has been the goofy sidekick to Owens over the last year or so, but when they two feuded, Zayn showed his heelish side, which he should unleash when he returns to the WWE.

The Underdog from the Underground is a great technical wrestler who can put on phenomenal matches, and is pretty good on the mic too, and deserves a good run at the top. Maybe he and Owens can reunite and be at their heelish best - mocking and ridiculing the rest of the Superstars, while also working in unison to get wins.

This could start at Royal Rumble, where Zayn - or Owens - wins, and the duo fight for each other on the road to WrestleMania.

#1 Finn Balor

If there is one Superstar who has received the short end of the stick on WWE and RAW, it's Finn Balor. The fans absolutely adore the Irish Superstar but he hasn't been afforded the opportunities at the top of the card, despite putting in great performances week after week.

In WWE's New Era under the McMahons, Balor should be one of the Superstars who deserves a push, and that could - and should - begin at Royal Rumble.

Perhaps WWE could turn Balor heel - which would mean he loses his fans - but Becky Lynch has shown that you can be a heel yet get the applause and adulation from the WWE Universe. Ruthless is what Balor should become.

He deserves and should get the win in the Royal Rumble match, and then maybe a shot at the Universal title, while a feud with WWE Champion Daniel Bryan, over on SmackDown, would be mouth-watering as well!
