A few interesting observations from this week's edition of Monday Night RAW (August 5)

This week's edition of WWE Monday Night RAW (5th August 2019) saw a lot of contrasting moments. From Roman Reigns almost being hit by a car to Goldberg's triumphant return towards the end of the show, last night's episode had it all.

Without any doubt, the red brand put forth a very eventful go-home edition of RAW just before SummerSlam 2019. Not only do we have SummerSlam to look forward to, but WWE has laid some important groundwork for long-term storytelling as well.

Let us take a look at some interesting observations from this week's episode of Monday Night RAW:

#3: WWE's attempt to make Seth Rollins appear cool has been bittersweet so far

Last night, a limping Seth Rollins tried to maintain his dignity by standing against Brock Lesnar despite not having any legitimate chance to survive against the Beast Incarnate.

As expected, Rollins ended up receiving another thrashing from Lesnar despite Paul Heyman's presence.

This was supposed to garner more support for Seth Rollins at this year's SummerSlam Pay-Per-View. But the segment did not work all the way through.

For some reason, a part of the weekly viewer can easily see through the premise of a segment that tries to make Seth Rollins look cool. Everyone gets it: Rollins lost his edge during the months following his victory at WrestleMania 35.

Maybe his recent controversies prevent fans from distinguishing between the character and the person himself.

Of course, none of this suggests that the WWE Universe have turned their backs against the Beast Slayer, but you have to ask yourselves: Did Seth Rollins garner enough momentum while heading into the Biggest Party of the Summer?

#2: Why Goldberg returned to face Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam in the first place

On the surface, it looks like Dolph Ziggler's constant argument regarding Goldberg's poor performance at Super ShowDown 2019 might have been a kayfabe catalyst for their eventual match at this year's SummerSlam Pay-Per-View.

But underneath this on-screen feud, it seems as if there is a legitimate behind-the-scenes reason as to why this match was made official in the first place.

First of all, Goldberg probably needed to redeem his worth as a Professional Wrestler after an unimpressive performance against The Undertaker this year.

On top of that, SummerSlam always features several part-time legends on the card, and if you ever thought that this year's SummerSlam card lacked in those aspects, we now have Goldberg and Trish Stratus returning to the wrestling ring this Sunday.

Also, Dolph Ziggler is a wrestler who proves to be great while carrying a seasoned veteran in a wrestling match. Let us hope that happens to be the case at SummerSlam 2019, after all, who doesn't want to see Goldberg's in-ring redemption at this stage of his career?

#1: Roman Reigns' "mystery attacker" has turned this feud into a thrilling conundrum

How interesting can things get when your primary antagonist (Samoa Joe) turns out to be a pawn amidst a larger scheme at hand? Well, in this case, Samoa Joe showed some sympathy after Roman Reigns was almost killed by a car.

This gave an added dimension to WWE's cookie-cutter heel character, and amazingly, Samoa Joe was able to achieve that after his recent unimpressive booking trend too.

Furthermore, the plot thickens when it comes to Roman Reigns' "mysterious attacker" in this case.

One could argue that this scenario draws some inspiration from a famous past storyline where Rikishi confessed to running over Stone Cold Steve Austin. But as of right now, Daniel Bryan and Buddy Murphy seem to be the primary suspects under social media's eye.

There are other interesting names you should check out as well.

Who do you think intentionally rammed into Roman Reigns' car on last night's RAW?
