Former UFC Champion Ronda Rousey has been absent from WWE television for awhile now. She wrestled last at WrestleMania 35 where she lost her RAW Women's Championship to Becky Lynch in a match where Charlotte Flair also lost her SmackDown's Women's Title to 'The Irish Lasskicker'.

Since then, there have been numerous rumors of Rousey returning to WWE as a full-time Superstar. However, wrestling fans have only been disappointed so far because 'The Baddest Women on the Planet' still hasn't stepped foot in a WWE ring. With Survivor Series less than a week away, could WWE be planning a surprise return for 'The Rowdy One?' Here are 3 signs that Rousey might return this Sunday at Survivor Series and 2 reasons why it could take much longer.

#5 Could return at Survivor Series: To continue her rivalry with Becky Lynch

Before taking a break from WWE, Ronda Rousey was involved in a rivalry with Becky Lynch. The current RAW Women's Champion became the only Superstar to pin Rousey in WWE. However, their match ended in controversy because Rousey's shoulders weren't touching the mat. The referee didn't notice and still counted for the pinfall, resulting in Rousey's title loss at WrestleMania 35.

As of now, WWE hasn't planned a new rivalry for Ronda Rousey and may want her to pick up where she left off with Lynch. This could all lead to their singles match at 'Mania next year. Considering this, it is likely that Rousey could return at Survivor Series and cost Becky Lynch her match against Bayley and Shayna Baszler. This would aggravate their on-going enmity in WWE and provide a reason to book a match between the two down the road.

#4 Why it may not happen: She could win the upcoming Women's Royal Rumble match

This year, Becky Lynch won the Women's Royal Rumble match after she eliminated Charlotte Flair. Then, she challenged Ronda Rousey for her RAW Women's Title and their match was confirmed for WrestleMania. Ever since Lynch beat Rousey at 'Mania 35, fans have been speculating a one-on-one match between the two to decide who is the most dominant female in the Women's Division.

Could Rousey repeat what Lynch did at the Royal Rumble this year? Could she possibly enter at number 30 and go on to win the Rumble match ensuring a RAW Women's Championship opportunity against Lynch at WrestleMania 36?

The Royal Rumble is known for surprise returns and it would be ideal if the former RAW Women's Champion makes her presence felt at the pay-per-view that is synonymous with the Road to WrestleMania. We know that WWE no longer grants automatic re-matches to a former champion, but winning the Royal Rumble match will allow Rousey to pick her opponent for WrestleMania. A Royal Rumble win for Rousey would contribute to a wonderful storyline and she and Lynch could go on to main event WrestleMania once again.

#3 Could return at Survivor Series: She's been rumored to return for a while

Triple H has confirmed that Ronda Rousey has been in contact with WWE despite being on the sidelines. She has pitched multiple ideas for her return and it is only a matter of time before the former UFC Champion returns to shake things up in the Women's Division.

"She said to me multiple times, 'It was like the family I never knew I was missing, and the group of friends and the environment I never knew I was missing.' I think she misses that greatly. She's constantly with us, and she's constantly pitching her return. So, if I had to guess, it would be sooner rather than later, but who knows?" (Credits for the quotes)

Survivor Series is already jam packed with numerous great match-ups, and if Ronda Rousey returns to WWE on Sunday, it would greatly benefit the company.

#2 Why it may not happen: Ronda Rousey might debut on SmackDown instead of returning to RAW

WWE on FOX
WWE on FOX

WWE signed a 5-year deal with FOX to broadcast SmackDown on its network. Their most prominent Superstars already works for the Blue Brand, but with Brock Lesnar's move from SmackDown to RAW, the show needs more in the way of major star attraction. Enter Ronda Rousey.

Like Lesnar, Rousey also has a background in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and is popular for her work in UFC. She's the only female to ever enter their Hall of Fame and FOX will want to benefit from the viewers she would bring to the program.

If WWE could manage to bring Rousey back -- which is likely to happen -- she could debut on the Blue Brand. Unfortunately, this would mean her return won't take place this Sunday at Survivor Series and fans might have to wait a little longer.

#1 Could return at Survivor Series: To help her real-life friend, Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey are friends in real-life and fans are well aware of this. A few weeks ago, Baszler even mentioned Ronda's name in a promo against Becky Lynch. The current NXT Women's Champion warned Lynch that she isn't the same person as Rousey and that she shouldn't be taken too lightly.

We know that Becky Lynch is one of the most protected female Superstars in WWE right now and it could hurt her character, if she loses at Survivor Series. However, WWE can make up for it by bringing Rousey back to the ring.

She's already friends with Baszler and could come to her aid at the upcoming pay-per-view. This is a storyline that makes sense in every way and would protect every wrestler featured in the Champion vs Champion vs Champion match. Rousey could take out Bayley and Lynch and then Baszler could take the victory, if that's how WWE wants this match to end.
