3 things WWE got right at Fastlane 2019 and 2 things they got wrong

WWE Fastlane 2019 is finally behind us, and it's safe to say that this pay per view was one to remember.

The final pit-stop on the road to WrestleMania 35, there was plenty on the line, as every Superstar on RAW and SmackDown Live tried to prove why they belonged to be a part of the biggest show of the year.

From The Man punching her ticket to WrestleMania to The Shield's final appearance together as a unit before Ambrose's departure, there was plenty of must-see action delivered.

But whilst there was plenty of upsides, there were some downsides.

Here are three things the WWE got right at the final pay per view before WrestleMania 35, as well as two things that could have been a whole lot better.

#3 Got it right: Match changes

Samoa Joe retained his title against three very game opponents last night.
Samoa Joe retained his title against three very game opponents last night.

There were already some great matches already announced for WWE Fastlane, but it seems that someone got into the company's ear and told them to make it better.

Doing so, the company bumped Rey Mysterio and Andrade from the pre-show to the main show, and gave both men a United States title match.

A rematch from last week's SmackDown, both men impressed against former champion R-Truth, and new champion Samoa Joe, who retained the title.

Later on in the show, the WWE decided to add a third man to the WWE Championship match, though it wasn't Kofi Kingston.

Instead, it was Mustafa Ali, the man who was supposed to have gotten the Kofi push before suffering a concussion. Though some plans weren't pleased to see anyone other than the New Day star get a title shot, let's just wait until WrestleMania.

#2 Got it wrong: Shield main event over WWE Championship

The Shield's final performance was memorable but came over the WWE Championship

WWE may tell us that the WWE Championship is the richest, most prestigious title of all time, but it sure doesn't feel that way.

A part of the 'B-Show' SmackDown Live since 2016, the title has often been overlooked in favor of the much newer Universal title, currently held by Brock Lesnar.

And even with Lesnar rarely appearing on pay per view, the company still find reasons for the WWE Championship to not be in the spotlight.

As much as I love The Shield, it would've been much more interesting to see the title match between Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens and Mustafa Ali go on last.

There's no way the WWE Title will be the last match at WrestleMania, so who knows when, or if it will main event.

#2 Got it right: The Empress retains over God's greatest creation

The Empress is riding high as champion on the road to WrestleMania 35.
The Empress is riding high as champion on the road to WrestleMania 35.

When Mandy Rose defeated Asuka to earn a SmackDown Women's championship match against her, many were stunned.

Despite some shaky months in 2018, Asuka has been seen as one of the company's most dominant athletes, whilst Rose, a fair hand in the ring, is still relatively new.

Though some fans claimed Asuka was being buried for this one loss, it doesn't seem the case, as the Japanese star retained the gold last night.

Whilst Rose's time may come in the future, Asuka remains one of the women division's most popular and talented stars, so to cut her reign short would've been a crime.

With the SmackDown Women's championship around the waist of the Empress, and with WrestleMania around the corner, the question now is simple: who's next?

#1 Got it right/wrong: the Shane McMahon heel turn

The Miz ambushed his own tag partner after they came up short against the Usos.
The Miz ambushed his own tag partner after they came up short against the Usos.

I genuinely cannot decide whether this was one of my favorite, or most hated moments from the show.

After coming up short against The Usos in the opener, Shane McMahon snapped on his partner The Miz, as well as Miz's dad.

This heel turn has been a long time coming, as many thought it would've occurred after Crown Jewel, when Shane replaced the A-Lister in the Best in the World finals.

These two have had some great chemistry as a team, and could do amazing things as opponents, especially at WrestleMania 35.

With that said though, The Miz is one of the most easily hateable men in wrestling history (just as much as Shane is one of the most likeable), so to have this role reversal may not be best for business.

#1 Got it right: The Man is going to WrestleMania!

Flair and Lynch gave their all, though it was Ronda Rousey who made the difference.
Flair and Lynch gave their all, though it was Ronda Rousey who made the difference.

It may have taken some extra effort, but Becky Lynch will compete at WrestleMania 35 for the RAW Women's Championship.

Despite being the 2019 Women's Royal Rumble winner, Lynch was stripped of her title match by Mr. McMahon, and had to earn it back by defeating longtime nemesis and former friend Charlotte Flair.

Lynch did not do it alone tonight, as it was Champion Ronda Rousey, who Lynch has hounded for months on social media, who gave her the assist, allowing her a match at the showcase of the immortals.

The Man will now face Rousey and Flair at WrestleMania 35, reportedly in the main event spot, the next leap in the Women's revolution.

Who will walk away from the biggest show of the year as the dominant female?
