Failing to capture the WWE Championship at Survivor Series, Rey Mysterio was certainly disappointed, but didn't wait long to get another title shot. Mysterio earned the opportunity to challenge AJ Styles for his United States Championship on RAW this week by beating three other Superstars in a Fatal 4-Way match. Rey Mysterio then went on to pin Styles to win the US Championship for the second time in his illustrious career.

The three-time WWE Champion already won the US Title earlier this year, but an injury forced him to abdicate the belt to Samoa Joe. Mysterio has since rejuvenated his character via his feud with WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. Although 'The Beast' defeated Rey Mysterio at Survivor Series, the former toiled hard to get the job done.

Who will next face Rey Mysterio for his United States Championship remains to be seen. In this article, we take a look at three possible opponents for Mysterio.

#3 AJ Styles

Rey Mysterio defeated AJ Styles for the United States Championship, and the two may extend their rivalry in the near future. Delivering one of the best matches on RAW this week, they have proven that they are competent of having an exciting feud. Moreover, Styles is the perfect heel to Mysterio's babyface character, so it makes perfect sense for them to have an extended rivalry.

Turning heel a couple of months ago, Styles joined forces with The OC to become an indomitable force on RAW. Not only have Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson found their footing in WWE, but they have also helped Styles win several matches.

While Styles has back-up in The OC, Mysterio has his own back-up. Dominic, Rey Mysterio's son, was involved in the WWE Championship match at Survivor Series, and could play a pivotal role in this potential feud. Moreover, Mysterio introduced Cain Velasquez to the WWE Universe, and the former UFC Champion could appear regularly on TV, if he decides to join forces with Rey Mysterio once again.

#2 Andrade

Ever since making his return to WWE, Andrade has been a primary opponent for Rey Mysterio. Both competitors have crossed paths several times, delivering astounding matches every single time. Given the fact that Mysterio is the US Champion now, Andrade could target his former foe once again.

Andrade moved to RAW in the draft, but is yet to get involved in a noteworthy feud. The former NXT Champion faced Sin Cara and Cedric Alexander over the past couple of weeks, building momentum and winning those matches. Andrade didn't participate in Survivor Series, as he failed to beat Seth Rollins on the RAW before the big pay-per-view.

Mysterio wanted to quit two months ago because he suffered an embarrassing loss against Andrade, failing to meet his own expectations. Both men can restart the storyline from there, and it could garner the attention of a myriad of fans. They already produced normal matches, but considering their in-ring proficiency, could tear the house down, if they wrestle with different stipulations. With TLC around the corner, the two high-flyers could offer an incredible Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match.

#1 Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre, one of the top heels of the Red Brand, could be a great choice to be Rey Mysterio's next opponent. 'The Scottish Psychopath' was part of the Fatal 4-Way match on RAW this week, which was inevitably won by Rey Mysterio. There is a notable size difference between McIntyre and Mysterio, but Mysterio has a proven track record against big men.

McIntyre is having a decent run this year, but is yet to win a singles title on the main roster since making his return last year. He destroyed two-thirds of The Shield before meeting Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 35. McIntyre recently returned to the squared circle after a hiatus, and there could be no better option for him than getting a United States Championship opportunity.

McIntyre and Mysterio are no strangers. During McIntyre's first run in WWE, they locked horns a couple of times, but it will be different now, considering how 'The Scottish Psychopath' has rebuilt himself. If this does indeed happen, McIntyre may have found a golden opportunity to wear the United States Championship once again.
