3 WWE Superstars who must win a title soon, (and 3 who shouldn't)

Kevin Owens could soon become the WWE Champion, whilst the company should wait before giving the Universal title to The Fiend Bray Wyatt.

In WWE, there are few things more important for a Superstar than the pursuit of championship gold.

Being a champion not only means that the company has faith in you, but it also means that your legacy will live on long after you've retired from the ring.

In recent years, WWE has had an influx of new titles revealed, with new belts being used on RAW, SmackDown Live, NXT, NXT UK and 205 Live.

But though everyone on the roster would like to hold some form of championship gold, not everyone should be pushed into the title just yet.

Here are three WWE Superstars who must win championship gold, and soon, as well as three Superstars who don't need to be in the title picture for a while.

#6: Should: Andrade

Andrade's rise to the main roster could be cemented by capturing a title on the main roster in the near future.
Andrade's rise to the main roster could be cemented by capturing a title on the main roster in the near future.

Since being called up to the main roster from NXT, the partnership of Andrade and Zelina Vega have done extremely well.

A former NXT Champion, 'El Idolo' has been able to hang in a mid to upper-mid-card position, recently engaging in an entertaining feud with former World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio.

The only thing that's been missing since Andrade's call up to the main roster is championship gold around his waist.

Winning the Intercontinental or United States gold is exactly what Andrade needs, as though he has been entertaining on the main roster, he is starting to become just another star in a roster of big stars.

With his athletic ability and heel tactics, Andrade could make a fine champion on SmackDown Live, ahead of the blue brand's move to Fox later this year.

#5: Shouldn't: Charlotte Flair

The Queen has held plenty of gold in her WWE career.
The Queen has held plenty of gold in her WWE career.

In less than two weeks, Charlotte Flair will hope to capture her tenth Women's title reign at Clash of Champions.

Given that Flair is already a nine-time champion, as well as the fact that the Pay Per View will be happening in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, it is very possible that the Queen will be entering double digits in a matter of days.

Though Charlotte is a fantastically gifted wrestler, as well as incredible on the mic and a true heel, her career has always had people claim that she is only in the position she is in because of her father Ric Flair.

This allegation has followed the Queen throughout her entire career, and though a title win at Clash of Champions is likely, it probably isn't in anyone's best interest.

A Flair victory would only galvanize those who feel she is only successful because she is the daughter of Ric Flair.

With things getting interesting thanks to the heel-turn of SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley this week, having the Hugger topple the queen next Sunday could be the best decision on the night.

#4: Should: Kevin Owens

Owens has been one of SmackDown's hottest stars in his feud with Shane McMahon.
Owens has been one of SmackDown's hottest stars in his feud with Shane McMahon.

Kevin Owens has always been brilliant on the mic. Notorious for being an excellent bad guy, the Prizefighter made a natural transition into a babyface when he cut an acclaimed promo calling out Shane McMahon and the treatment of talent in WWE.

His words echoed fans' thoughts and because of that, they gravitated towards Owens in the same manner as CM Punk and other pipe bomb stars.

Much like Punk's infamous pipe bomb in 2011, what Owens has said is coming from a place of truth, as there are many fans who have grown tired of seeing McMahon call himself the Best in the World.

Though Owens has held plenty of gold in his near-five years in WWE, including reigns as NXT, Intercontinental, United States and Universal Champion, he has yet to hold gold in the company as a babyface.

Given how over he is with the crowd, the WWE would be wise to give him another run with a world championship soon.

Though with faces Seth Rollins and Kofi Kingston as the top two champions, Owens may have to wait for his chance - although the Royal Rumble isn't too far away...

#3: Shouldn't: Bray Wyatt

The Fiend has been incredible since returning to WWE, but shouldn't be champion just yet.
The Fiend has been incredible since returning to WWE, but shouldn't be champion just yet.

In 2019, there are few acts hotter in WWE than Bray Wyatt.

After months away from the ring, the Eater of Worlds returned as The Fiend at SummerSlam with a decisive win over Finn Balor, much to the praise of the fans.

But though it seems that the Fiend can do no wrong, one issue that could happen is having the former World Champion capture the Universal title too soon.

This is now looking like a real possibility, as Wyatt has challenged for the Universal title, whoever it may be holding it (be it Seth Rollins or Braun Strowman), at Hell in a Cell inside the barbaric structure.

Having Wyatt win could be a case of too much too soon, though at the same time, the company wouldn't want Wyatt to lose the match either.

If I had to suggest an idea, it could be interesting to see Wyatt destroy the champion inside the structure, even ripping off the canvas, but choosing not to win the gold.

This would certainly keep Wyatt looking strong, in time for a properly built hunt for the Universal title down the line.

#2: Should: Sasha Banks

The Boss has had the number of RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch since returning to TV.
The Boss has had the number of RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch since returning to TV.

Sasha Banks is no stranger to championship gold on the WWE main roster.

A four-time RAW Women's Champion, Banks is also one half of the first-ever WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, though each of these five title reigns was surprisingly short.

After she and Bayley lost the Tag Titles to The IIconics at WrestleMania 35 this past April, Banks went on an extended leave from the company, with rumors circulating of an alleged incident backstage at the Show of Shows.

Returning on the RAW after SummerSlam, Banks has quickly inserted herself into the RAW Women's title picture, ambushing Becky Lynch with a steel chair.

Things were taken to the next level on this week's edition of the red brand, as Banks was once again able to get the jump on the Irish Superstar and even reunited with her Boss 'n Hug Connection partner Bayley, who floored Lynch with some chair shots of her own.

If Banks wants to be seen as a truly credible star on the main roster, defeating The Man is exactly what the Boss needs to cement her return.

#1: Shouldn't: Roman Reigns

Being out of the title picture has allowed Reigns more matches with different opponents.
Being out of the title picture has allowed Reigns more matches with different opponents.

In November 2012, Roman Reigns debuted on the main roster as a member of the Shield, and in the years since, has done plenty during his tenure.

Over the years, Reigns has been a WWE, Universal, United States, Tag Team and Intercontinental Champion, as well as the 2015 Royal Rumble winner.

But for all his accolades, the Big Dog's time on the main roster has been mired in controversy, with many fans thinking he has been over-pushed over the years.

In October last year though, everyone was shocked when Reigns was forced to relinquish the Universal gold, after revealing he was battling leukemia.

An awful moment to be sure, Reigns was able to return months later and has since stayed away from the world title picture.

This lower position has allowed Reigns to truly shine, with multiple great matches, such as his recent SmackDown Live bout with Buddy Murphy.

This has made even the most fervent of Roman's critics admit that the Big Dog can do well in the ring, and if WWE wants to keep this momentum going, keeping him out of the title hunt is the best idea.
