For the third year in a row, WWE massively ruined LA Knight’s chances of becoming Mr. Money in the Bank. At the highly anticipated premium live event, Seth Rollins was the one to unhook the briefcase and win the match. This booking decision disappointed Knight's fans after his rousing promo on SmackDown ahead of the PLE, but also got fans speculating as to why WWE wasn’t pushing The Megastar despite being over and loved.
Here are four possible reasons as to why he didn’t win this year’s Money in the Bank briefcase.
#4. WWE doesn’t see him as a main event star
A common question fans have often asked is why WWE pushed Jey Uso to WWE World Heavyweight Champion status while Knight has not had a similar push. Both men are over with the fans and get a major pop whenever they come out. Many feel The Megastar has proven to be better on the mic, with his quick wit that even Uso can’t compete with. The issue lies with how well they do as a main event star. Since his departure from the OG Bloodline and move to RAW, Mr. Yeet proved the 'Main Event' moniker to his name was worthy.
This, his entrance theme, and merch sales made him a huge attraction among the fans. Unfortunately, Knight has yet to reach that level. Despite the fan admiration he gets, WWE may not view him as the same main event attraction as The Yeet Master. The company does care about its profits and will not push someone who doesn’t get them the bag.
#3. WWE wouldn’t have let him cash in on either John Cena or Jey Uso
One reason why Knight didn’t win the Money in the Bank briefcase this year could boil down to who holds the two titles he can cash in on. The current Undisputed WWE Champion is John Cena, and the World Heavyweight Champion is Jey Uso. Both men have been embroiled in feuds and storylines that would not work if Knight cashes in at this moment.

A popular fan speculation is that Cena will drop the title back to Cody Rhodes before he leaves the company at the end of the year. Uso is still feuding with Gunther, and there have been plans to have Logan Paul win the title. This would be the worst time for The Megastar to have won the briefcase. Seth Rollins cashing in on The Yeet Master makes sense since they have feuded, and he still wants the title. The Revolutionary has been open about his plans for another title run, and his status is way above Knight's.
#2. Triple H allegedly doesn’t like him
According to multiple sources, including Vince Russo, Triple H does not have a soft spot for Mr. Knight. This is probably why he has not gotten the push he deserves and has put in the work for. Russo even added that Vince McMahon would never have done such a thing because he valued talent above all else. This would not be the first time HHH denied someone a push because he didn’t like them.
Even fans have called out Hunter on social media for the lackluster booking The Megastar has received. While the Stamford-based promotion has not stated a reason for it, the pattern is visible. Knight’s two title reigns started and ended abruptly, and his feuds have had no substance that would get him the main event spotlight he deserves. For years now, WWE has been promising fans that Knight would have his moment in the sun, but has always pulled away at the last moment.
#1. WWE hands him the belt when fans demand it
A counterargument some fans have stated is that WWE does have plans for Knight, but they are never able to execute them as they want to. This is due to the bigger storylines that are often in play. However, there is a flaw when one looks at Knight’s previous title runs. He won the United States Title from Logan Paul at SummerSlam 2024. Following this win, he was seemingly left out of the creative cycle. He feuded with Santos Escobar and Berto before moving on to Andrade and Carmelo Hayes. There was no direction or story to these feuds.
He lost the title to Shinsuke Nakamura at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024, starting their feud. The match was lackluster, and fans were waiting for The Megastar to win the title back and move on. This would happen on an episode of SmackDown in March before losing the title to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 41. Looking at the trajectory of Knight’s title run, it seems like WWE gave him the belt to calm the fans down without having an overall plan for it.
