4 reasons why WWE Elimination Chamber might disappoint

The Elimination Chamber pay-per-view is set to take place this Sunday

The first pay-per-view on the Road to WrestleMania 35, WWE Elimination Chamber is just 2 days away. Truth be told, WWE has not done anything which has got the fans excited for this event. Leave alone the WWE Championship match, the WWE Universe really does not care about all the other matches on the card.

The match card for the 2019 Elimination Chamber show is as follows -

  1. Cruiserweight Championship: Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Akira Tozawa
  2. Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin
  3. SmackDown Tag Team Championship: The Miz & Shane McMahon (c) vs. The Usos
  4. Raw Women's Championship: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Ruby Riott
  5. Intercontinental Championship: Bobby Lashley (c) & Lio Rush vs. Finn Balor
  6. Women's Tag Team Championship (Elimination Chamber): Sasha Banks & Bayley vs. Nia Jax & Tamina vs. Riott Squad vs. The IIconics vs. Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville vs. Naomi & Carmella
  7. WWE Championship (Elimination Chamber): Daniel Bryan (c) vs. AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton vs. Samoa Joe vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Kofi Kingston

The last two matches will take place inside the demonic Elimination Chamber however, there are 4 big reasons Elimination Chamber may end up as a failure:

#4 Cruiserweight Championship match on the pre-show

SPOILER - The best singles match of the night will take place on the kick-off show
SPOILER - The best singles match of the night will take place on the kick-off show

The only singles match which promised to deliver on the Elimination Chamber PPV was the Cruiserweight Championship match between Buddy Murphy and Akira Tozawa. The reason why WWE underestimates the 205 Live division is unknown but of late, it has become a trend in the company that the Cruiserweight title match, irrespective of its supreme quality, is given that spot on the card, which no one cares about.

We had seen at the WWE SuperShow Down and Survivor Series pay-per-views that if given the right amount of time and the right position on the match card, the Cruiserweights can steal the show.

Though Murphy and Tozawa will get the time they want this Sunday, unfortunately, their match will not take place on the main show.

This means that the wrestling quality was the main show will deter and a lot will rely on the WWE Championship match to avoid this show become the worst wrestling show of the year.

#3 Jimmy Uso's arrest

Jimmy Uso was a part of the PPV's SmackDown tag team championship match
Jimmy Uso was a part of the PPV's SmackDown tag team championship match

SmackDown Live superstar Jimmy Uso, real name Jonathan Fatu, was arrested in Detroit, Michigan following an alleged altercation with police according to a report from TMZ.

One half of the Usos, Jimmy, along with his brother Jey Uso was set to take on the team of the Miz and Shane McMahon for the SmackDown tag team championships at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

Jimmy Uso's current status for the pay-per-view is unknown but it seems like WWE may need to alter their plans at the last minute.

This will result in WWE Creative scrapping their original plan for the blue brand's tag team division. Also, this may impact the WrestleMania plans the WWE Creative might have had for the team of Shane McMahon and the Miz.

If this match is called off or altered at the last moment, we can expect a disappointing match for the SmackDown tag team titles.

#2 Meaningless RAW Women's Championship match

Not even Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan would say that Ruby Riott will defeat Ronda Rousey on Sunday
Not even Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan would say that Ruby Riott will defeat Ronda Rousey on Sunday

The Baddest Woman on the Planet, Ronda Rousey will put her RAW Women's Championship on the line against Ruby Riott at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. WOW! In WWE Creative's opinion, this is perhaps the most unpredictable match in the history of sports entertainment.

But, unfortunately, that is not the case. It would have been okay if this match took place on WWE Main Event or at best on Monday Night RAW.

I think WWE's women's division is trying to break Roman Reigns' disgraceful WWE records. First, the closing segment of RAW broke the record of the most disliked video on WWE's YouTube channel.

And now, the booking of Ronda Rousey vs Ruby Riott for Elimination Chamber 2019 has perhaps broken the record for the most predictable match in WWE history. (previous best being Roman Reigns vs Triple H at WrestleMania 32).

The only thing we can learn from this feud is that one should stay positive irrespective of the situations in life -

#1 Presence of repeated match-ups

This match will be
This match will be "fresh" for new subscribers of the WWE Network

When the WWE announced the two Elimination Chamber matches for the pay-per-view, the fans expected the WWE to produce their best Elimination Chamber pay-per-view ever. However, WWE has instead converted Elimination Chamber into a bootleg version of WWE Fastlane (yes, the worst is yet to come).

Repeated match-ups like Braun Strowman vs Baron Corbin, Ronda Rousey vs Ruby Riott would do nothing but test the patience of the WWE Universe. Also, if WWE loves to book repeated matches on pay-per-views, why is the match between Andrade and Rey Mysterio missing from the match card?

WWE Creative have booked themselves in a corner by making these decisions.

The match card could have been way better if it had superstars like Rey Mysterio, Andrade, SmackDown women's champion Asuka, United States Champion R-Truth, the new RAW tag team champions the Revival, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose on it.

Nevertheless, some things never change in the WWE, and so, get ready for an underwhelming pay-per-view, this Sunday.
