Forming relationships in the workplace is against most places of work, as it can create tension and drama when it goes south. Well, that rule does not exist in WWE. It’s okay to mix business with pleasure so to speak. Matter of fact, there has been real-life WWE couples throughout the years.
Some even have played out on screen with Rusev and Lana currently in the forefront of that. You can’t forget some such as Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, Goldust and Marlena, or how about Matt Hardy and Lita?
And also AJ Lee and CM Punk’s smoking hot chemistry on screen led them to the altar much to the satisfaction of Punklee ‘shippers such as myself. Then there is John Cena and Nikki Bella too.
But what about the ones that comes from left field? Relationships that you didn’t see coming which leaves you mind blown. You may find yourself asking ‘How on Earth did he/she land him/her?’ One example would be the couple of Brock Lesnar and Sable.
Me, I would’ve never thought of them two being together much less get married and have two children together. But it seems that they are happy and that’s what matters.
Back to the subject, in a time where everything is scrutinized and talked about, these relationships aren’t exempt from that. People love a good gossip session, and a subject like this fits right in that.
So let’s get on with that conversation about what some other shocking real-life WWE couples are?
#5 Alberto Del Rio and Paige
If there was a picture that describes the phrase “opposites attract”, it would definitely be these two. This is the most recent relationship that threw everyone in a tailspin. In fact, it was so controversial that fans immediately suspected that it was just a storyline for Total Divas, as Paige stars on the show.
According to Paige, it isn’t a storyline and she wrote a touching Instagram post proclaiming her love for the former WWE Champion. The relationship is moving past the beginning stages, but it looks like that both parties are invested in each other and we will see this for a good while.
#4 Edge and Beth Phoenix
Even though Edge confirmed the relationship shortly after they started dating, many people didn’t know that Edge and Phoenix were together until the announcement of the birth of their first child! The couple now has two children but hasn’t gotten married just yet.
Time will tell if that is on the cards, but for now the couple seems to be doing just fine. Both parties were in high profile WWE relationships (with Lita and CM Punk respectively), so when those failed, one can guess they found their way to each other.
Phoenix confirmed that they did not date while working for WWE.
#3 Dolph Ziggler and Dana Brooke
The blonde couple was quietly dating until Rusev called them out on Twitter in November 2015. Soon after the couple came out publicly, adding pictures on social media. It is not clear when the duo started dating.
The couple is often seen together, mainly attending sporting events. Other than that, they seem to remain pretty mum about their relationship. It is said that absence makes the heart grow fonder, because currently Ziggler and Brooke are competing on opposite brands thanks to the brand extension.
Between Ziggler chasing Smackdown’s Championships and Brooke being Charlotte’s insurance policy, they seem to have their hands full.
#2 The Undertaker and Michelle McCool
This surprise couple was able to keep their relationship under wraps in the beginning. It is assumed their relationship started as early as 2007, after The Undertaker and his previous wife Sara were divorced. The couple was married in June 2010, and has one child together.
McCool sometimes shares Instagram posts of her and her mysterious husband, and has talked about their relationship in interviews. She has been open about fans’ opinion of her using Taker to get ahead, which she denied, and says she worked hard to get where she was at.
McCool is currently battling skin cancer.
#1 Dean Ambrose and Renee Young
Dean Ambrose is everyone’s favorite Lunatic Fringe while Renee Young embodies the sweet girl next door. When Young admitted in a 2015 interview that they were dating, the Internet was abuzz at the news.
She insists that the relationship is very much private, thus there are no actual pictures of them together unless fans come across photos taken by other fans. Ambrose has commented a few times about Young in interviews, doting on her.
Young does the same when asked about Ambrose. Young will be featured on Total Divas, so fans will most likely see the private couple interact with one another away from the squared circle.
But it sure does take getting used to, considering that these two form quite the unlikely couple.
