Recently, it was announced that Triple H will be teaming up with the legendary faction called Bullet Club, when WWE travels to Japan for a couple of live events emanating from Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

The announcement took the wrestling world by storm, with the WWE Universe displaying mixed emotions for the upcoming match. Many are excited for Triple H to join forces with one of the most popular factions of this era, while there are some who aren't exactly thrilled with it. The naysayers are of the opinion that Triple H should have let Finn Balor join his old teammates, instead of inserting himself into a high-profile match.

In the following list, we will be taking a look at five times when WWE came up with the oddest pairings, be it a tag team, or a stable.

#5. Daniel Bryan is paired with Kane

Back in 2012, Daniel Bryan was set to marry AJ Lee on the 1000th episode of Monday Night Raw. In a shocking turn of events, Lee left Bryan at the altar to accept Mr. McMahon's offer of becoming the Raw GM. Later, Bryan was attacked by The Rock. These events resulted in Bryan becoming an angry and bitter Superstar. AJ went on to put Bryan in a match against Kane at Summerslam, which he eventually won.

To put a stop to Bryan's anger issues, AJ Lee put him in an anger management class, along with Kane. The two reluctantly formed a tag team and somehow won the tag team titles by defeating The Prime Time Players. Team Hell No went on to have a solid run on the upper mid-card, and fans enjoyed every bit of this incredibly odd pairing.

#4. Kevin Owens joins The New Day

Kevin Owens returned to WWE on the road to WrestleMania 35, as a babyface. He was scheduled to compete for the WWE Title at 'Mania, but the rise of KofiMania changed the plans entirely.

After Kingston became WWE Champion and Big E suffered an injury, Owens offered his services to The New Day. He was immediately made the honourary member of the faction. The episode saw Kofi and Woods trying to make Owens comfortable in his new role, by giving him a plateful of pancakes to eat, as well as New Day merchandise.

Big E responded to this by sending a warning to his teammates. It didn't take long for Owens to betray The New Day, as he attacked Kingston and Woods following a SmackDown main event match, turning heel in the process. Nevertheless, this short-lived association ended up giving a bunch of hilarious moments to the fans.

#3. Brock Lesnar and Tajiri team up

Brock Lesnar's initial run in WWE saw him become WWE Champion in quick succession, when he defeated The Rock at Summerslam 2002. Soon after, WWE came up with a Tag Team Tournament to crown new SmackDown Tag Team Champions at WWE No Mercy 2002. One of the quarterfinals saw Brock Lesnar team up with Tajiri of all people to take on Rey Mysterio and Edge.

The fast-paced pair of Mysterio and Edge somehow stole a victory, which enraged Brock to no end. He went on to unleash a brutal attack on his rivals, but this wasn't the end. Brock hit a thunderous F5 on Tajiri, his own partner. Suddenly, Undertaker hit the ring and began attacking Lesnar, who immediately fled the spot. Watching the behemoth in Brock team up with a cruiserweight like Tajiri wasn't something anyone ever expected to see.

#2. Roman Reigns wins Tag Team Titles with Tyler Breeze

Today, Roman Reigns has become possibly the biggest Superstar in recent memory. He has headlined four consecutive WrestleMania events, and has won the top championship on several occasions. He recently jumped ship to SmackDown in the Superstar Shakeup, in what was dubbed as "the biggest acquisition in SmackDown Live history".

Little do fans know that Roman Reigns once won the Florida Championship Wrestling Tag Team Titles with Tyler Breeze, who went on to become a jobber! On June 15th, 2012, Roman Reigns teamed up with Mike Dalton to face off against Corey Graves and Jake Carter, WWE legend Big Van Vader's son. Reigns and Dalton, aka Breeze, ended up winning the titles and becoming new FCW Tag Team Champions. Little did the pair know that they would follow completely different paths once they moved up to the main roster.

#1. Kurt Angle joins Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose

Bank in 2017, WWE had to make last-minute changes to the TLC PPV card, after Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt were deemed unable to compete due to medical issues. This resulted in the WWE Universe getting a dream match in AJ Styles vs Finn Balor. Additionally, WWE announced that Hall of Famer Kurt Angle would be replacing Reigns to join his Shield brethren in the main event of the show.

Angle came out in full Shield gear alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, in what later became a hilarious meme, thanks to Angle's awkward mannerisms during the entrance. The trio ended up having a great match against Braun Strowman, Kane, The Miz, and The Bar. In fact, this temporary version of The Shield managed to win the bout and close the show on a high note.
