5 Possible Opponents for Brock Lesnar after No Mercy

Whom will The Beast feast upon next?
Whom will The Beast feast upon next?

While many were disappointed by how the main event of No Mercy played out, one thing is for certain. Brock Lesnar, despite his part-time schedule, is still the company's top player, and the main event scene on RAW will be built around him.

It is being widely speculated that Lesnar will embark upon a leave of absence very soon indeed and that he will only return in a few months. This begs the question, who will be next to challenge the might of the Beast Incarnate, possibly at the Survivor Series pay-per-view?

We nominate 5 possible contenders for the role. Bear in mind, the predominant rumour is still that Lesnar carries the Universal Championship all the way to WrestleMania 34 and Roman Reigns will be the man to dethrone him. With that in mind, the Big Dog is a notable exclusion from this list.

Also, consider the fact that The Big Show and Big Cass are out with injuries. Remember that Brock has run through monsters such as Goldberg, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman, this year alone.

We nominate 5 of the likeliest contenders for the game of thrones that is the top spot on RAW, right now. We want to hear from you in the comments, with your opinion on our list, and whom you think should be the likeliest contender for the prize!

#5 Bray Wyatt

This was a dream match for many, not very long ago!
This was a dream match for many, not very long ago!

Remember how The Wyatt Family had united at last year's Royal Rumble event, to eliminate Brock Lesnar from the mix, raising the possibility of a Bray Wyatt vs. Brock Lesnar feud? We believe that this match could still be a massive draw.

Before you dismiss Bray Wyatt as someone who's much lower down the ladder when compared to Lesnar, bear in mind that he was WWE Champion as recently as this year. Even without the support of the Wyatt Family, Wyatt has access to forces that few can comprehend, and the outcome of such a clash will be absolutely titanic.

Of course, much rehabilitation will have to be done before Bray Wyatt can be considered a threat. Wyatt, in his own way, is a pretty big and agile man, and we believe that with good writing, there is immense potential in this clash of bulls.

#4 John Cena

Could this epic clash transpire yet again?
Could this epic clash transpire yet again?

John Cena has been very public about the fact that he won't be able to devote as much time to WWE, as he once could. Therefore, the company may want to make good use of him, when he is around.

John Cena may be dwarfed by Brock Lesnar physically (who isn't?), but remember that he's one of the strongest men on the entire roster. Imagine the potential of him trading insults with someone like Paul Heyman to build this feud up. We've seen this match in the past, but we'd seen Goldberg vs. Lesnar too, and that was a pretty cool series indeed.

John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar circa 2017 is a clash for the ages, between two men who came up the same way, from pretty much the same era, and are now synonymous with sports entertainment. Also, remember that John Cena brings out the best in every single performer.

Here's another repeat clash with immense potential to be quite massive indeed.

#3 Seth Rollins

We've seen this clash before, but never like this!
We've seen this clash before, but never like this!

You're thinking that we've already seen Seth Rollins face Brock Lesnar in the past, right? In that particular encounter, Rollins retained his title because of The Undertaker coming back to claim revenge for Lesnar ending the streak.

Even though Brock was booked to look much stronger in that clash, do remember that Rollins was wrestling as the heel, at that time. Lesnar can wrestle some really good matches against smaller opponents, as he proved in his epic encounter against CM Punk.

Despite the fact that Rollins has lost a lot of momentum, he is still one of the best wrestlers in the world right now. He may be in a tag team environment at the moment, but Rollins can wrestle great singles matches, as well.

A good showing against Brock Lesnar can also help rehabilitate Rollins from the rut he's in, at the moment. If anything, he's suffering from being at the bottom of the barrel. Even a losing performance against Lesnar can elevate him to the very top of RAW.

#2 Finn Balor

Remember that Finn Balor is still owed a Universal Championship shot
Remember that Finn Balor is still owed a Universal Championship shot

Finn Balor came up to RAW soon after the first ever brand split and immediately became the Universal Champion, in a record 27 days. On the 28th day, he retired the championship, owing to an injury that he had sustained during SummerSlam.

All said and done, he is owed a championship match. Yes, we know that when it comes to size, he does not really match up to Brock Lesnar. At the same time, Balor is one of the best workers in the world and always tries to tell a story in the ring.

The babyface sympathy for Balor would be at an all-time high. Win or lose, it would be a star-making performance for Finn Balor to be in a program with Brock Lesnar.

#1 Kurt Angle

These two classic rivals could set the ring on fire!
These classic rivals could set the ring on fire!

And now for the grand finale! Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar are two characters whom fans remember from a memorable era of wrestling when the product was fresh and the viewership was higher. A match between the two would bring back many old WWE fans. Heck, both of them even faced each other for NJPW back in 2007.

Angle has been vocal about the fact that he feels that he has another WWE run left. We know that Angle was wrestling great matches in the indies, until very recently. There's no reason why he couldn't perform at a high level in WWE.

So, there you have it, folks. We feel that these men may be next in line to wrestle Lesnar for the prized Universal Championship. Agree? Disagree? Don't care?

In any case, irrespective of whoever faces Lesnar, we all know that The Big Dog will be the man to ultimately steal Lesnar's crown. Let's end our countdown with a resounding 'Oooooaaaaaa!' Until the next time...
