5 possible storylines for Sami Zayn's return to WWE

Sami Zayn has been out of WWE since June when Bobby Lashley injured him during their feud. Zayn's last WWE appearance was at the Money in the Bank PPV, where he lost to Bobby Lashley.

The Canadian superstar had a brilliant start to 2018, as he was in the WWE Championship feud in January, but as the year progressed, Sami's position on the card became lower and lower. He lost his position on the blue brand's roster because of his conflicts with Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan.

Sami Zayn, along with his best friend Kevin Owens moved to RAW as a part of the 2018 Superstar Shake-up. However, the two friends received poor booking on Monday nights as they got lost in the mix before both got injured.

WWE has been airing vignettes of the return of Sami Zayn to RAW. So here are the 5 possible ways the Underdog from the Underground can return to WWE.

#5 Sami Zayn cuts down his weight to 205 lbs and joins 205 Live

WWE had no storylines for Sami Zayn on the main roster

Sami Zayn received the worst booking on RAW as he was put in a meaningless feud with Bobby Lashley. There used to be segments featuring the Lashley sisters, and even the WWE wants the fans to forget about that feud.

So, it can be assumed that WWE did not have good long-term plans for Zayn, and it would be better if the Canadian's services are used in some other division.

The division which requires a star the most is the Cruiserweight Division.

Just like the current champion, Buddy Murphy, it could be revealed that Zayn has cut down his weight to 205 lbs, and so is eligible to join the division. The former NXT Champion can take the 205 Live show to the next level by feuding with the likes of Cedric Alexander, or even by having a WrestleMania feud with Buddy Murphy.

#4 Turns face, defeats Dean Ambrose in a feud

If WWE wants a credible face superstar in the mid-card of their singles division, Sami Zayn can perfectly fit in that role. RAW has a lot of heels currently, like Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, & Bobby Lashley, and they need face superstars to battle with.

So, Sami Zayn, who used to be a face before turning heel in 2017 can once again embrace his face side as his heel character was not that successful.

To establish him as a top face superstar, WWE could insert him in a feud with Dean Ambrose who is leaving WWE soon and is expected to put over some talents before he leaves. Maybe a short one-month feud with Ambrose, with the duo facing off at Fastlane, could provide a good amount of momentum for Sami ahead of WrestleMania 35.

#3 Destroys Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush, sets up a WrestleMania match

In case WWE wants to have Sami Zayn off TV for some more time, then they could book his return just about a month before the Show of Shows. Then Zayn can make his emphatic return to RAW and destroy Bobby Lashley, the man responsible for his injury, as well as his hype man Lio Rush, setting up a WrestleMania match for the Intercontinental Championship.

Finn Balor is currently involved in a rivalry with the Intercontinental Champion, but in my opinion, it would be better if WWE allows Lashley to have a lengthy reign with the title. This would help establish Lashley as a solid heel, and would also give the creative team an opportunity to book a match between Bobby Lashley and Sami Zayn.

This would be the first singles match of Sami Zayn's WWE career at WrestleMania 35, and the former NXT Champion can even have his WrestleMania moment by winning his first title on the main roster.

Monday Night RAW's tag team division has been in shambles ever since WrestleMania 34 when Braun Strowman and Nicholas won the RAW tag team championships. No tag team has been able to have a memorable title reign on the red brand since then.

Even the current champions, Bobby Roode and Chad Gable, seem to be a randomly put together tag team, so it would be better if a credible tag team joins the division.

Speaking about credible tag teams, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens can be a valuable asset to the RAW tag team division, given how well they know each other. They are brilliant mic workers, possess exceptional in-ring skills, and most importantly - this will freshen up their characters.

Though they have battled in numerous tag team matches in the past, never ever have they seriously competed for the tag team titles, so this would be a great way to book their return.

This rivalry between the two best friends never ages

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are undoubtedly best friends, but when it comes to fighting inside the ring as rivals, they are even better. We have seen these two Canadian superstars battle in WWE many times, yet whenever they battle against each other, it catches the attention of every fan.

However, WWE can change things here by having Sami Zayn as the heel in the feud instead of Kevin Owens, as Zayn has shown how irritating he can be as a heel. On the other hand, Owens has the potential of being the top babyface of the company. So it would be great if WWE books a heel Sami Zayn vs a face Kevin Owens feud.

It is rumored that these two superstars will not return until WrestleMania 35, thus pulling off this move on the RAW after WrestleMania can put the spotlight on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
