#2 Fan Expectation
Considering Edge is one of the most decorated superstars in WWE history, with multiple reigns of multiple different Titles across his career, not having him in the Championship picture at the very least will feel strange to fans who would expect him to return to his former glory.
It might take him a while to get used to performing regularly again, but there's no doubt fans will expect to see him holding one of the World Titles at some point in the very near future. Otherwise it may feel like a missed opportunity and his return may start to feel a little underwhelming.
Comparisons could be drawn to the return of The Rock back in 2012/2013 when he defeated CM Punk to once again capture WWE gold. Of course, he would go on to main event WrestleMania against John Cena in one of the more high-profile matches in recent memory.
The Rock may not have returned as a full-time member of the roster, but under the circumstances, his ascendance to the WWE Championship felt natural and worked for what the company and the fans expected.
An Edge WWE Title run could work in the same way.
