5 reasons why Seth Rollins is at risk of losing his Universal Championship

Will Seth Rollins lose to Baron Corbin or Brock Lesnar?
Will Seth Rollins lose to Baron Corbin or Brock Lesnar?

A few weeks ago, WWE confirmed that Seth Rollins is going to defend his Universal Championship at Stomping Grounds against Baron Corbin. Fans are assuming that Rollins is going to retain his championship easily, as nobody expects Corbin to beat the Superstar who slew Brock Lesnar recently.

Lesnar is also searching for a golden opportunity to cash in his Money in the Bank contract against Rollins and become the first ever 3-time WWE Universal Champion. Although it seems a bit unrealistic, Rollins is currently on the verge of losing his title. Corbin and Lesnar are chasing him for the championship belt, and it won't be easy to stop both Superstars. Here are 5 reasons why we may see the end to Seth Rollins' Universal Championship reign soon.

#5 The Special Guest Referee may cost him the title

Who will be the special guest referee?
Who will be the special guest referee?

Apparently, Seth Rollins took an unfair victory over Baron Corbin at WWE Super ShowDown, which granted the latter an opportunity to pick a special guest referee of his choice. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were the top picks for this role but since they have their own matches at Stomping Grounds, it seems unlikely to happen.

Corbin tried to reveal who will be the referee during his upcoming match but whenever he did, Rollins attacked the Superstar, and this has made us curious to know who the special guest referee will be.

Will it be Brock Lesnar, as Paul Heyman subtly told us, or it will be another friend of Corbin? Whatever the case might be, one thing is certain: the special guest referee will try to help the former Acting General Manager of Raw (unless it's Lesnar) pick up a victory over Rollins and win the Universal Championship. We will have to wait for a few days to know if it is what Vince McMahon has planned for the fans.

#4 Brock Lesnar has the Money in the Bank briefcase

Even though it is said to expect the unexpected in WWE, the fans never do so. They believe what WWE portrays on television and all of their thinking is based upon that, which is normal but not always the case. Fans expected Drew McIntyre or Ali to win the Money in the Bank briefcase, which didn't happen because Brock Lesnar had to shock us.

He came, won the briefcase, and left the building. Since then, he has been teasing his cash-in on Seth Rollins. Lesnar dismantled Rollins on Raw but convinced himself to wait until Super ShowDown. The Beast thought that it would be easy to beat Rollins for the title but he wasn't aware of the fact that the champ knows how to use low-blows.

This move helped him beat Lesnar at WrestleMania 35, and it again did the job in Saudi Arabia as the cash-in didn't happen. Since Lesnar still has the briefcase, it makes sense to expect Rollins losing the title soon. Perhaps Vince McMahon wants this to happen.

#3 Because Baron Corbin has already retired Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 35

Will Baron Corbin shockingly beat Seth Rollins
Will Baron Corbin shockingly beat Seth Rollins

Baron Corbin is the underdog in his match against Seth Rollins. Only a minority of people believe that he could win the Universal Championship from Rollins. It may not happen at Stomping Grounds but it could happen on later shows.

Both Superstars are advertised for the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, and it wouldn't be a complete shock if Rollins finally loses his championship here. Corbin has already defeated many top dogs in WWE (take Kurt Angle, for instance) and has also pinned Rollins on Raw.

If it could happen once, then there's a chance it would happen again. Corbin is one of the biggest heel Superstars in WWE today, and Vince McMahon may want him to hold the Universal Championship for some time.

#2 Seth Rollins isn't drawing viewership

Now, it would be a crime to blame Seth Rollins alone for Raw's declining ratings but since he is the biggest Superstar in this brand (after Becky Lynch), it's his responsibility to draw the ratings.

A majority of WWE fans believe that Vince McMahon shouldn't make part-time champions but from to time, it is proven that his strategy works. Whenever Brock Lesnar returns on Raw, ratings spike. But it isn't happening with Seth Rollins. He is a fighting champion, the fans love him, and almost everything is going great with him. Yet Raw is losing ratings every week.

In no way, he is a 'bad' champion, but it's likely that WWE may want to do some title changes and find the perfect Superstar for drawing viewership. It doesn't need to be Brock Lesnar, as someone like Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman or Kevin Owens could do the job.

#1 Rollins' next challenger could be someone like Braun Strowman

Will Braun Strowman finally win the Universal Championship

Whether you are a Seth Rollins fan or not, you would agree that the Universal Championship scene isn't exciting to focus on. And the creative team should take the blame.

It's been only a few months since Rollins won the Universal Championship, but his title reign is looking underwhelming, and it's not just because of his feud with Baron Corbin. Rollins briefly feuded with AJ Styles and we felt the same during that period too. Maybe it's time for a new champion?

Raw has many top-tier Superstars available who could entertain the fans better in current circumstances. At the moment, WWE can only experiment with their product and see what their audience wants to see. Someone like Braun Strowman really needs to be a champion in WWE and make things interesting. Otherwise, nothing would improve and it may hurt WWE a lot.
