Rollins and Cena may be helming Raw and SmackDown respectively

The biggest piece of hype surrounding WWE right now, apart from Brock Lesnar’s UFC match and John Cena’s hosting duties at the ESPYs, is the soon to be unraveled WWE Draft. As we’re just a week away from the brand split, the draft will play a pertinent role in building up the two brands that are Raw and Smackdown for the future.

Many things may or may not happen at the Draft. NXT call-ups are expected and huge names are expected to make the jump. It will be natural to start things off with a bang and the number one draft pick is the way to achieve that.

Here are the 5 names that can me number one draft pick.

  1. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion

Dean Ambrose just may lose his title next week to Rollins

Whoever wins between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins next week has a strong case of being the number one draft pick. If WWE are serious enough to make SmackDown great again then this moment can be it.

Remember the time when SmackDown used to be an equal to Raw and as or more interesting than the main show? It might have been 2001-02 when The Rock, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle and The Undertaker were all part of it and Stephanie McMahon was the General Manager. The biggest prize in WWE was on SmackDown and that helped build future champions like Lesnar and Guerrero.

The WWE World Heavyweight Champion being drafted first will be a huge boost

  1. Brock Lesnar

Lesnar may return just in time for the draft

Lesnar hasn’t graced the WWE Universe with his presence since WrestleMania and he has been quite the news lately with Vince McMahon calling him the most formidable combat athlete in history after his victory over Mark Hunt at UFC 200. But Lesnar will be back for the draft or so it seems. Right now his only publicized presence is for his match against Randy Orton at Summerslam.

The Beast Incarnate being drafted first will be a great way to kick off the fact that how huge a change drafts can make. Also, Lesnar being drafted to SmackDown will bring back memories from the glory days.

  1. John Cena

Cena has always been rumored to be on SmackDown

Till now, rumors have suggested that to make this brand split seems as serious as it should be, WWE can put John Cena on Smackdown. He was rumored to be the first name penciled down to move to the blue brand.

And that may just come in the form of a first draft pick. Cena moving to whichever brand is a huge deal since he is still the face who runs the place. He is set to pass the baton soon or so it seems since it is also rumored that he won’t be part of WWE’s grueling schedule as he used to be but still he is at the top of his game and still making the company a lot of money and bringing in a lot of recognition.

  1. Kevin Owens/ Sami Zayn

Their paths may collide even if they have to brands split between them

The ballad of Owens and Zayn has been a worth all the while and it will continue to be forever. Their story is such. Their journey will collide someday in the future again but being in different brands can also fuel things more for the future.

Their feud has always been a rivalry since they shared space in the main roster. The ‘Fight Forever’ tag will never fade away. Things will never settle between these two. Keeping them on the same brand while they still hate each other will never bring closure to this rivalry. This rivalry doesn’t need closure. So, let it take a break for a while with one of them being shifted to the blue brand.

  1. AJ Styles

Styles moving to Smackdown could be a phenomenal move.

If there is any alliance that may be set to break is The Club. Styles has been touted as a guy who many backstage are impressed with and he will carry whichever brand he’s drafted to. It also makes sense. Sort of.

If he is taken apart from The Club, what happens to The Club. It was always better as a trio. What if, later on in the night Finn Balor gets drafted to the same brand as Gallows and Anderson? Can they form an alliance? Won’t everything be in balance in the Universe then?
