5 Surprises that could happen at WWE Crown Jewel 2019- New champ crowned, heel turn

Could The Fiend take the Universal Championship to WWE SmackDown?
Could The Fiend take the Universal Championship to WWE SmackDown?

Crown Jewel is on the horizon, and the Saudi Arabian audience is certainly prepared for what should be a fantastic show indeed. Millions of others around the world will watch the show either on pay-per-view or on the WWE Network.

But there's always a certain section of the audience that does not care for the Saudi Arabian shows, whether it is for reasons beyond professional wrestling or because they deem it a glorified WWE Live Event. Vince McMahon needs to book a whole bunch of genuine surprises to remind the fans that these events are big-time spectacles.

There's no Undertaker or Goldberg this time around, but there are two unknowns in boxing legend Tyson Fury and MMA megastar Cain Velasquez, making their WWE debuts. One should expect more than one surprise when this show comes around.

I'm just speculating here, but I wouldn't really be surprised if one of the following surprises take place...

#5 The Fiend becomes Universal Champion

I know that it would defy logic for The Fiend to become Universal Champion, especially if you consider that him and Seth Rollins are on two different brands. Would it make sense for Seth Rollins to lose the Universal Championship and have The Fiend show up with it on the Blue Brand? I guess it could certainly happen if you consider the fact that Cain Velasquez could bring the WWE Championship to RAW.

Another possibility is that Seth Rollins could potentially lose the title, and reclaim it at Survivor Series, where Superstars from two brands are allowed to compete against one another. The thing is that if The Fiend suffers yet another loss, he will lose all the momentum that has made him special.

And you don't want The Fiend to become The Eater of Pins!

#4 The New Day turn heel

We all saw the manner in which Kofi Kingston lost the WWE Championship to Brock Lesnar. It was a historic reign also from a cultural standpoint, and it was brushed aside like it meant nothing at all, when he lost in mere seconds to the Beast Incarnate. But I have a feeling that it could lead to some great things in the future if rumors are to be believed about Kingston.

As reported by Tom Colohue of Sportskeeda, Kofi Kingston is approaching a breakdown. Queen fans can relate to the sentiment with the lyrics- 'Inside my heart is breaking, my makeup may be flaking but my smile still stays on'. In a sense, bogged down by the weight of the loss that he has incurred, Kofi Kingston has been on the verge of snapping but he has kept a smile on his face because he is a channel for the power of positivity.

And so don't be alarmed if you see The New Day use heel moves in the big match or indeed if Kofi Kingston turns on Big E during the course of the said contest, ladies and gentlemen of the WWE Universe.

#3 Tyson Fury knocks Braun Strowman out with one punch

You cannot become a pro wrestler overnight, as you guys well know. I personally know a lot of people in the WWE Performance Center who've been there for years who haven't had a chance to compete on NXT TV yet, despite the fact that they've been learning the ropes for years and years.

Tyson Fury may be the king in his domain but unlike Cain Velasquez who's actually trained in Lucha Libre, he does not have the basic skills needed to compete at a high level against a Superstar who's of Braun Strowman's caliber, unfortunately. If this match is to last for over two minutes, I dare say that it will be an object of ridicule from the WWE Universe.

Maybe all that needs to be done in this case is for Fury to come out and knock Strowman out with a 'work' punch, ending the match in a matter of seconds. The two could maybe clash again in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania, where Strowman knocks him out of the ring to get his big win back from Tyson Fury.

Don't expect a Daniel Bryan-esque performance from Tyson Fury.

#2 Drew McIntyre abandons his team in the middle of the match

It is clear that Drew McIntyre is a long-term prospect for WWE because he certainly has the look and the physique to be a future Universal Champion. But this is backed up with a ton of promo ability as well, that allows him to stand apart from the rest of the current roster. And I haven't even mentioned his in-ring ability which is simply exemplary indeed.

We all saw how Hulk Hogan got into his face on RAW, and had this been 1987, this would have been a feud that could have main evented WrestleMania. Because Crown Jewel is not going to have the heels pick up a win, it is pretty clear that it will be Team Hogan standing tall when the night is done. But it will be a misstep to have Drew McIntyre on the losing side because he needs to be protected for his eventual push to the top.

This could actually be what eventually causes Drew McIntyre to eventually go babyface and maybe become the face of the Red Brand. This may actually make a lot of sense if Seth Rollins decides to go heel.

#1 Buddy Murphy gets a big singles push

So, let's begin with the knowledge that AJ Styles is a heel and it is unlikely that he will take on yet another heel at Crown Jewel. With that said, if you were to look at the field of WWE Superstars who could potentially take him on after winning the Battle Royal, there's only one clear choice.

Buddy Murphy got TV time on RAW against R-Truth and it is clear that he is in line for a big singles push. And this is no surprise after his fabulous performance against Roman Reigns that has been described by many as the best match of the year.

WWE could also choose Cedric Alexander, but I have a feeling that because Murphy got screen time on RAW, it will be him who gets a shot against the United States Champion. We all saw how much AJ Styles managed to elevate Humberto Carillo during this week's episode of RAW and he could certainly recreate the same magic with Buddy Murphy as well.

Murphy is on the precipice of greatness and this could be just the push he needs.
