#3 Randy Orton will finally dethrone Drew McIntyre as WWE Champion
In a feud that has been hard-hitting and furious, but also seemingly dragging and non-stop, Drew McIntyre will once again defend the WWE Championship against Randy Orton.
This feud has been going on since August and SummerSlam, where McIntyre won via a surprise roll-up. Last month at Clash of Champions, McIntyre won the Ambulance Match, with the assistance of the legends Orton had previously punted. Now, they face-off inside Hell in a Cell.
This match, like their previous two, is difficult to call since both men have tons of momentum. McIntyre has done an excellent job as WWE Champion, especially given current circumstances.
On the other hand, Orton has arguably had the best year of his career. His promo work, along with feuds with Edge and McIntyre, have been great. While Orton could afford to take a loss more than McIntyre, a defeat could also cool off Orton a bit, who has arguably lost some momentum since this feud began.
A question to ask when considering who will win this match is who has more options, should they lose? McIntyre has options such as the Fiend, AJ Styles, and Braun Strowman to name a few. Meanwhile, Orton’s options seem more limited.
While he can feud with guys like Keith Lee, Jeff Hardy, and other babyfaces that were drafted to RAW, these feuds would feel more interesting with the WWE Championship involved.
The end game for Orton seems to be another match with Edge, possibly at WrestleMania 37 next year. Edge is not close to returning yet, so what can Orton do until then?
A title reign that culminates with a match against Edge, or the Rated-R Superstar costing Orton the WWE Championship down the line seem like the best routes at this point.
So, although this match can go in either direction, expect Randy Orton to finally get the upper hand and end Drew McIntyre’s superb reign as WWE Champion inside Hell in a Cell.
