It's been nearly two years since Enzo Amore graced WWE with an appearance, even though there was that cameo at Survivor Series that many fans still question to this very day. Amore was fired from the company due to a number of issues in his personal life and has since been quite outspoken about the reasons why the company dismissed him in almost every interview since.

Amore recently sat down with AEW broadcaster Chris Van Vliet and opened up about a number of factors about his life, career, and how he's adjusted to life outside the ring over the past few years.

Here are some of the biggest things we learned from Enzo Amore's interview with Chris Van Vliet.

#5. John Cena saved Enzo Amore's WWE career

One of the first things that Enzo Amore talked about while speaking to Van Vliet was the fact that he was ready to be fired just seven months after he first came to WWE. Amore went out to the ring for an NXT match at one point and was prepared to be fired when he headed backstage, but thankfully John Cena was in the crowd watching his match and actually asked for him to be part of the dark segment later in the show. This prompted WWE to take a longer look at the star and allowed him to open up and share his personality much more.

"Basically the first time that we ever went out on TV I said, 'My name is Enzo Amore and I'm a certified G and a bonafide studd', I didn't say, 'And you can't teach that,' at that moment. John Cena was in the crowd that day and I was told that I was going to be fired, so I was out there to do a job. I have a contract, I'm an employee, but at the same time I'm about to go out there and lose and then get fired. So when I came through the curtain I thought I was all over and I was like, 'It was terrible. They're gonna tell me I did bad,' but this little kid called Robin comes running up to me and he's like, 'Dude, John Cena wants to meet you.'"

Cena was later part of a dark segment with Amore and Big Cass which may have been the main reason why Amore wasn't fired.

#4. Enzo explained all about Phoenix

Enzo Amore's main reason for being fired from WWE was because he was accused of rape and wasn't honest with the company about it. The charges were made public the day of RAW 25 and the company was frustrated that the news surrounding WWE was negative on a day that they were trying to celebrate their history.

Amore was cleared of all of the charges a few months after his release and has since been able to return to the ring for different promotions, except for WWE. As part of his recent sit- down with Chris Van Vliet, Amore was able to open up about the story behind his dismissal from WWE.

"When I was fired there were four or five other people under an investigation in the company that were wrestlers dealing with legal issues. I had not gotten a phone call by police, they had never contacted me one time. I know nothing went wrong in Phoenix. Are you kidding me, bro? I was there, bro. I didn't think [that there was something wrong]. I would have taken a video, you know like a boom boom flick. I would have shown the world."

#3. Enzo has a rich friend who let him borrow clothes

Enzo Amore would appear on WWE TV often in clothes that would cause many to believe he had his own stylist. Amore would wear Jordan shoes and expensive clothing to the ring and unlike many other Superstars, Amore didn't actually have a usual ring attire. There was a rumor that Amore had a lot of money and had quite the lifestyle outside of the business since he was often seen partying outside of the company and being frivolous with money.

This is something that he addressed with Chris Van Vliet. Amore talked about the fact that when he was a heel with the Cruiserweight Championship, he would live the Ric Flair lifestyle, which meant that he would go clubbing with stars like Drake and The Weeknd. Amore also addressed the fact that the clothes he often wore as part of his character were not his own.

"As a heel I went out to nightclubs with the title in LA and party with Drake, party with The Weeknd, and for me, bro, like people think that because I'm wearing the Gucci stuff or whatever on TV, I had a stylist. I had a friend who had millions of dollars who would let me borrow his clothes for TV."

#2. Will Big Cass be returning to the business?

Enzo Amore and Big Cass were aligned together in NXT when they first started out and quickly became close friends. Amore was fired from the company just months before Big Cass followed suit, which meant that the two men were able to reunite outside of WWE for a number of different promotions.

Amore was asked about Big Cass, who has been struggling with his mental health recently and Van Vliet wanted an update on whether or not Cass would be returning in the future.

“I spoke to him yesterday. He’s doing everything he possibly can to be the best version of himself. Will we ever see him in tights again? Honestly, I can’t tell you, I have no idea. I just know one thing, that the best friend that I had is not the same guy that’s been walking around the past couple of years. The things he’s been dealing with mentally, I can’t relate to. Just because I can’t relate, I’ve had to learn that it doesn’t mean I can’t understand because it’s real. Mental health is real and I saw it first-hand. It’s real and this guy is going through something that I would consider a disease and other people are going through that. If he can come out of this thing and inspire people in ways that Tyson Fury has, that’s a new purpose for him.”

#1. Why was Enzo at Survivor Series 2018?

Why was Enzo Amore at Survivor Series last year?

Many fans were shocked when Enzo Amore was spotted in the crowd at Survivor Series almost a year ago now and many believed that he was making his WWE comeback. It turns out that this wasn't the case. Since Amore stood up and was then cheered by the crowd, security swiftly removed him from the audience.

Many fans questioned why Amore would return to a company that he was fired from more than a year ago, but the former Cruiserweight Champion was able to open up about his reasons why. Enzo stated that he wanted to, "Let the bridges you burn light the way," which meant that he headed over to Survivor Series and paid $2,500 dollars for a ticket so that he could confirm that he was returning to the wrestling ring.

Being removed from the arena obviously made headlines throughout the wrestling world and once again put Enzo on the map, which worked out perfectly for Amore in the end.

"I was bitterly angry at the WWE to the point where I showed up to their Survivor Series pay-per-view and gave them the middle finger. So basically my philosophy for showing up to Survivor Series was I'm booking myself back into the business and it ain't here."
