Over the years, fans have been treated to some brilliant moments featuring women at SummerSlam, and surely this year will be no different. SummerSlam 2020 won't take place in a huge arena like past years, but it's sure to be a standout event on the WWE pay-per-view calendar.

The women's roster has had some of the biggest moments of past SummerSlam events. Here are five times where the WWE women shined at SummerSlam.

#5 Paige vs. AJ Lee for the Divas Championship - SummerSlam 2014

In 2014, Paige made her debut on RAW, winning the Divas Championship from then-champion AJ Lee in mere minutes. The inaugural NXT Women's Champions became the youngest ever Divas Champion. The pair entered an intense feud in the following months. After winning the title, Paige successfully defended her title against Brie Bella, Tamina, and Alicia Fox.

However, AJ Lee quickly won the belt back on an episode of RAW in a similar manner to Paige, making her a two-time Divas Champion. Around this time, the two began to work as a team in tag matches as "frenemies". Paige eventually turned heel, and they battled it out again for the Divas Championship at SummerSlam 2014.

The match at SummerSlam was an intense back and forth between the pair. Lee attempted to submit Paige with the Black Widow, but "The Anti-Diva" was able to counter it and hit her with the Ram-Paige to become Divas Champion for the second time on her twenty-second birthday.

AJ Lee retired from WWE in 2015 due to spinal damage, following her marriage to CM Punk. AJ now works as an author. Paige has also retired from in-ring action due to injury but still works in different capacities for WWE. She is a former SmackDown General Manager and a contributor on WWE Backstage alongside Lee's husband.

#4 Nikki Bella turns on Brie - SummerSlam 2014

The Bella Twins were massive stars during the Divas Era. In 2014, Brie Bella became a part of the ongoing storyline between her real-life partner, Daniel Bryan, Stephanie McMahon, and Kane.

In the build-up to SummerSlam 2014, Brie was told that she would be fired if Bryan didn't relinquish his WWE Heavyweight Championship. This lead Brie to "quit", slapping McMahon as she walked out.

McMahon punished The Bellas by putting Nikki into a series of handicap matches. Brie returned and was later arrested on screen as a punishment. McMahon would drop the charges against her if Brie took part in a match against her at SummerSlam.

During the showdown between Stephanie McMahon and Brie Bella at SummerSlam, they both managed to get some great offense in on one another. Triple H entered the fray and interfered in the match followed by Nikki Bella.

Brie attacked Triple H after he had pulled the referee out of the ring, and then Nikki climbed in. It looked as though Nikki was about to help her sister, but she punched her in the face, enabling McMahon to win and turning heel in the process.

#3 Becky Lynch becomes The Man - SummerSlam 2018

SummerSlam 2018 was a turning point in Becky Lynch's career. In 2018, Carmella successfully cashed in her Money in the Bank contract to become WWE SmackDown Women's Champion. After winning the title, Carmella lost to both Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in non-title matches. So, WWE set up a triple threat match with the title on the line for SummerSlam.

During the match, fans appeared to be rooting for Lynch to win the title. Lynch was about to become SmackDown Women's Champion when she applied the Dis-Arm-Her to Carmella. Then, Flair jumped into the ring and hit Lynch with the Natural Selection.

At the time, Lynch and Flair were best friends. When "The Queen" was declared champion, Lynch hugged her. Then, she knocked Flair to the floor with a punch and launched an attack on her former friend, turning into a more aggressive character.

When Becky Lynch attacked Charlotte Flair "The Man" persona was born. This led the fans to rally around Lynch, and her becoming the eventual face of the WWE.

In the build-up to SummerSlam 2000, Chyna had already become the only woman in WWE history to win the Intercontinental Championship. The "Ninth Wonder of the World" dropped the title to Chris Jericho at Royal Rumble.

As the pay-per-view came along, Val Venis was the defending champion. Chyna was involved in an on-screen relationship with Eddie Guerrero, who referred to her as "Mamacita".

At SummerSlam 2000, Chyna and Guerrero teamed up in a mixed tag match against Venis and Trish Stratus. The on-screen lovers dominated the match from the get-go. When the women were tagged in, "The Ninth Wonder of the World" easily overpowered Stratus and performed a Miltary Press Slam on her.

Chyna pinned her to begin her second reign as Intercontinental Champion. Chyna spent two weeks with the belt before she lost it to Guerrero during a triple threat match with Kurt Angle.

In the summer of 2019, Flair had just lost the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship to Bayley. This led "The Queen" to interrupt Trish Stratus's interview on SmackDown to challenge the Hall of Famer to a match, which she accepted. The match-up was described as a dream match by some, as the pair are two of the most decorated women in WWE history.

The SummerSlam match between Flair and Stratus was intense. Both superstars showcased their incredible in-ring talent. Fans were treated to some great spots like Stratus hurling Flair down from the top rope with an amazing Hurricanrana.

In the end, Flair sealed the victory when she forced Stratus to tap out. The two women had great chemistry in the ring, and some fans even praised the bout as the match of the night.
