#4 Shawn Michaels returned to wrestling after an 8 year hiatus

Shawn Michaels brought the curtain down on his pro-wrestling career in 2010. He competed in a 'Streak vs. Career' match at WrestleMania, where if he lost, he would be forced to retire from the ring. The Undertaker defeated him on the night, thus bringing an end to the illustrious career of the 'Heartbreak Kid.'

Eight years on from his retirement, Shawn Michaels decided to lace up his wrestling boots once again. He teamed up with D-Generation X tag team partner Triple H against The Undertaker and Kane. The match took place in Saudi Arabia, where it was likely HBK would have received a decent payday. Sadly, the match didn't live up to the hype, and Michaels returned to retirement.

#3 Brock Lesnar returned to wrestling after an 8 year hiatus

Brock Lesnar departed WWE and effectively retired from wrestling in 2004 unceremoniously, citing he was burnt out and wanted to try his hand at the NFL. It was a shock to many in the WWE Universe at the time, as Brock had been on an incredible rise since his debut just a couple of years prior.

During his absence, Lesnar also fought inside the Octagon for UFC before finally meeting with WWE, agreeing to a return to wrestling. He officially made his return to the WWE the night after WrestleMania in 2012. He immediately confronted John Cena following his defeat to The Rock the night before. Lesnar delivered an F5 to signify his intentions and the start of his feud.

Brock recently returned after a year-and-a-half long absence from the squared circle.
