It's the new year and that means that one of the most exciting PPVs in WWE, Royal Rumble, is just weeks away. The Royal Rumble in 2020 will take place on January 27, 2020 in Houston, Texas, and will perhaps be one of the biggest Royal Rumbles in recent history.

This year's Royal Rumble could see several NXT Superstars take part in various matches as well as the two Royal Rumble matches. The Royal Rumble match is perhaps the most fun aspect of the PPV, not just for the future feuds set up and the high-flying action, but the return of legends to the squared circle.

Last year's Royal Rumble saw the return of Jeff Jarrett in the men's Royal Rumble match, while previous Royal Rumbles have seen the likes of The Hurricane and Rey Mysterio, as well as Beth Phoenix, Torrie Wilson, Trish Stratus, and Lita, to name a few.

Let's take a look at 5 WWE Hall of Famers who could return for the 2020 Royal Rumble match:

#5 Edge

There have been several rumours doing the rounds over the last few months that WWE Hall of Famer, Edge, could return to the squared circle for one final match. Edge, whose last match was way back in 2011, had to retire due to a neck injury.

He has appeared time and again in WWE, to host segments, but has never got physical... until last year's SummerSlam, where he speared Elias.

Edge revealed last year that he could have a match but WWE's medical staff would not allow it: "To be perfectly honest, I think I could do a match tomorrow. I might be blown up but I’d be okay. It’s just from what I know with the WWE medical staff, they won’t allow. It is what it is, right?”

While he has denied time and again that he hasn't been cleared to wrestle, he may be throwing a curve ball to then finally surprise WWE fans.

Could we perhaps see Edge return to make a few eliminations with little physical contact to keep himself safe, and tease a potential return for one final match? It could be a possibility.

#4 Booker T

One legend who is fit and ready to have yet another match despite being on the wrong side of 50 is Booker T, who recently revealed that he could return for one final match in WWE.

On this past week's WWE Backstage show, Booker T revealed that he could re-form his tag team with his brother Stevie Ray, and take on The Revival, for one final time in the WWE ring.

The Royal Rumble could be the perfect way to set this potential match up as The Revival could also be in the men's Royal Rumble match, and Booker T could confront and possibly eliminate them from the match.

Booker T hasn't stepped inside a ring since 2012, but if he does want to return to the ring for another match, the Royal Rumble match could be the perfect way to shrug off the ring rust.

One thing is for sure, the WWE fans would give a huge ovation to the WWE Hall of Famer.

#3 Ivory

Ivory, who was a prominent Superstar during the Attitude Era, was a part of the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame. She featured for the first time on WWE television in 15 years two years ago at the Evolution PPV in 2018.

The women's roster in WWE currently is very strong, and there is no need to bring back WWE veterans like they did for the first-ever women's Royal Rumble match. We could see a lot of Superstars from NXT being added to the Royal Rumble match, but WWE could also bring one or two legends just to keep fans guessing and interested.

Ivory could be one of those Superstars as she has not been a part of the Royal Rumble match yet, which means that this year could be the perfect opportunity to bring her back.

#4 Kurt Angle

Many of you may be wondering why a Superstar who had his farewell match just last year could return to WWE once again? Well, WWE has often brought back legends despite them "retiring" from in-ring competition in the past, and they could very well do it once again.

Last year's Royal Rumble had just one legend, Jeff Jarrett, and this year's Royal Rumble could see Kurt Angle - who was also a part of that Royal Rumble match - return to the ring.

Angle, as many of you may remember, lost to Baron Corbin in his final match at WrestleMania 35 in 2019. The WWE Hall of Famer is still employed with WWE as a backstage producer, and the company could very well bring back the Olympic gold medallist to perhaps finally have the last word in his feud with Baron Corbin by returning and eliminating him.

#1 Goldberg

One legend who had quite a rollercoaster 2019 was Goldberg, who was battered and criticized for his match against The Undertaker at Super Showdown. The Hall of Famer then had a match against Dolph Ziggler, a squash match to sort of help rebuild his credibility.

Goldberg may be set for another match, if what he said on Stone Cold Steve Austin's Broken Skull Sessions is any indication. The WCW legend said that he owes Undertaker "a receipt", indicating that he wants another match with The Phenom.

Goldberg could perhaps return at Royal Rumble, eliminate a few Superstars, appear on RAW the next day, and challenge The Undertaker once again. Or perhaps the legend could set up a match with some other legend at the Royal Rumble match. If Goldberg wants another match, the Royal Rumble match could be a great way to set it up.
