WrestleMania 37 is still far away, but WWE seems to have started penning down possible matches for the annual extravaganza. The Show of Shows will take place at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, on March 28, 2021, as per the latest plans.

It's not a secret that WWE goes out of its way to turn WrestleMania into a must-see event every single year. WrestleMania has been WWE's biggest show of the year ever since the first event took place at MSG in 1985. This year as well, WWE is seemingly planning way ahead for the event, and the rumor mill is running rampant in regards to possible blockbuster matches and returns for the show.

In this list, we will take a look at five WWE Superstars who are expected to return on the road to WrestleMania 37.

#5 WWE legend John Cena

John Cena

WWE legend and 16-time World Champion, John Cena might return to the company on the road to WrestleMania, as per a report by Dave Meltzer. According to the reputed journalist, WWE is planning something for Cena at WrestleMania, as well as The Undertaker.

You know come WrestleMania season they’re gonna talk to John Cena and they’re gonna talk to Undertaker. I mean it’s just how it is no matter what they say now. A lot of times those guys come back.

John Cena took on Bray Wyatt in a Firefly Fun House match at WrestleMania 36, earlier this year, which he eventually lost. The rivalry between Cena and The Undertaker goes way back to 2003 when the duo faced off at Vengeance. The Undertaker came out victorious at the show.

At WrestleMania 34, Cena took on The Undertaker again and was squashed by The Deadman in a matter of minutes. Is WWE planning a match between these two megastars? A marquee match like The Undertaker vs. John Cena could catch a lot of eyeballs heading into WrestleMania, now that Cena is a major Hollywood star.

#4 WWE Hall of Famer Edge

Edge

WWE Hall of Famer Edge made his big return to the company at this year's Royal Rumble event. The Rated-R Superstar had been away from the ring for nine years, and his return was a genuine surprise for the WWE Universe.

Edge went on to have a heated rivalry with former tag team partner Randy Orton and defeated him at WrestleMania 36. Edge suffered an injury during his rematch against Orton at Backlash, and it was estimated that he would be out for six to eight months.

Dave Meltzer has noted that Edge would be ready to compete by the time WrestleMania arrives. There's a possibility that Edge could win the 2021 Royal Rumble and go on to challenge Randy Orton for the WWE title at The Show of Shows. Earlier, it was planned that Edge and Orton would meet in an "I Quit" match in the main event of WrestleMania, but the plans changed a handful of times in the past. Currently, there's nothing set in stone in regards to the main event of WrestleMania 37.

#3 WWE Superstar Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch

Former WWE Women's Champion Becky Lynch has been out of action for a while now and is expecting a baby by the end of the year. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, however, wants to book a blockbuster match at WrestleMania, which would see Lynch take on her arch-rival, Ronda Rousey.

Ronda Rousey lost the RAW Women's title to Lynch in the main event of WrestleMania 35 last year, which also involved Charlotte Flair. Becky Lynch had become a major star in WWE by that time and went on to carry the belt on her shoulder for over a year.

Lynch vacated her belt after Money in the Bank 2020 and took a hiatus due to her pregnancy. Rousey had left immediately after WrestleMania 35, to start a family with Travis Browne. Vince McMahon wants these two to go at it at The Grandest Stage Of Them All next year, in one of the most anticipated matches in recent history. Lynch and Rousey have never faced off in a singles encounter, but we might finally get to see this bout at WrestleMania if McMahon's plans come to fruition.

#2 WWE legend The Undertaker

The Undertaker
The Undertaker

As already discussed, WWE is planning to have John Cena and The Undertaker to make their returns for WrestleMania. This clearly means that we just might see The Deadman in action very soon. The Undertaker stopped wrestling full-time a long time ago and is rarely seen in a WWE ring now. He made it clear during his docuseries that his career was done, by stating that he has no desire to get back in the ring at this point in his career. But The Phenom also stated that only time will tell what happens if Vince McMahon comes calling.

The Undertaker last wrestled at WrestleMania 36, where he took on AJ Styles in a Boneyard match. The match ended when The Undertaker buried Styles alive and rode off on his bike.

Little is known about The Undertaker's physical condition at this point, but if he feels fit enough to be able to have another match at The Show of Shows, more power to him. He has been wrestling for WWE for over three decades now and is one of the most successful Superstars in history.

#1 WWE legend The Rock

The Rock
The Rock

Roman Reigns is currently the biggest heel in all of WWE. He is the current Universal Champion on WWE SmackDown and is slated to take on Jey Uso inside Hell in a Cell. Recently, Reigns opened up on a possible match with The Rock and seemed all in for the same.

I think I’m the guy. If there’s anyone to do it and anyone that he would feel comfortable with in the ring and have a proper build-up and that can rise to the occasion, there’s no doubt in mind that I’m the guy.

The current storyline with Roman Reigns is certainly pointing towards the possibility of an eventual showdown with The Rock, which, by the way, The Great One approves of.

But you know what, the truth is, I would be honored not only to share the ring with Roman and to go back to the WWE. But of course, I would be honored to have him raise his hand in that one.

Reigns could continue his path of destruction for months on end and finally, take on The Rock at WrestleMania in one of the biggest matches of this era. This is certainly a dream match for many and needs to happen before it's too late.
