Huh...What?
Huh...What?

The gimmick is an extension of the wrestler. It is his or her ability to be able to mold it as per the needs of the WWE fans. That's what great WWE Wrestlers do. They adapt, survive and succeed. They must transform themselves...much like a musical artist like Madonna.

Wait...you're probably asking yourself...Why the heck is Madonna even being brought up with connection to WWE? She certainly was the reigning Queen of Pop that ruled throughout the 80s and 90s. She has delighted several fans across the world with her music. It can be argued that some in the WWE Universe are probably fans as well.

So, what's the point of including Madonna as the main issue of this list? Let me explain. One of the reasons that Madonna stayed relevant for all those years was her ability to reinvent herself. Lady Gaga has perfected that art to perfection, especially with her Oscar-winning hit song 'shallow.'

The point being that WWE Superstars fall in the same category. They have to constantly recreate themselves to keep themselves relevant in the business. It takes something special to keep the WWE Universe interested in them. Sure, all WWE legends who return always have a great welcome but very few actually can keep up with the young guns.

The WWE Superstars who are included in this list are ones that were able to change with the times without completely tarnishing their original gimmick but still keeping the core of it intact. WWE Wrestlers are creative creatures at heart like their musical or acting counterparts. When they have a good match, they are creating magic in the middle of a WWE ring.

Here are 5 WWE Superstars who transformed themselves over the years and stayed relevant.

#5 Triple H

From Gentleman to Cerebral Assassin
From Gentleman to Cerebral Assassin

It's hard to imagine Triple H as to when he first started to what he has achieved in the WWE. He's now one of the higher ranked executives in the WWE. He started as a Connecticut Blueblood, who became a rabble-rouser and leader of DX who became The Game to becoming The Cerebral Assassin.

He even adopted The Authority as a corporate-like owner much like Vince McMahon. He has transformed himself to fit every era of the WWE. The Best In The Game...Indeed!

#4 Goldust

The Bizarre Ones
The Bizarre Ones

Goldust aka Dustin Rhodes was and is still a creative genius. He has multiple runs with the WWE and has left a lasting impression on the WWE Universe. When Goldust debuted in the WWE all those years ago in 1993, it was a shock to the system. While he started his career in WCW, He wrestled as 'The Natural' Dustin Rhodes, son of Dusty Rhodes.

The Goldust character was remarkable for its time and showed that WWE was willing to push boundaries. What started as an Androgynous character over the years transformed into a comical one. He became alligned with Booker-T and developed a stutter. He remained oversexualised but with one with impressive comic timing.

Over the years, he became the resident freak of the WWE. When Cody Rhodes became very much part of the roster and eventually became Stardust, he transformed into a weird amalgamation between a comic book character and superhero. Certainly, WWE fans will never forget the name ...Goldust.

#3 Sting

The Icon
The Icon

Sting was another great wrestler who managed to transform himself over time. Sting was Mr. WCW. Like a fallen angel, he returned as The Crow Sting. He eventually became The Wolfpac Sting with red paint all over. He returned to WWE as The Vigilante.

While his time in WWE was short-lived as he retired soon after an injury, no one can underestimate the impact he had on the Professional Wrestling industry. His time in Impact Wrestling or TNA as it was known before, was great as well. He used the monikor of The Icon to fit his great feats in the ring.

His transformation into The Joker Sting was also his ability to constantly create and evolve. That's what great WWE Wrestlers do. They have to adapt to survive in the business or they will fade into the darkness. With Sting, WWE fans always knew, 'Nothing's for sure.'

#2 Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho Through The Years
Chris Jericho Through The Years

Y2J. The King of The World.Sexy Beast. The Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla. First Ever Undisputed Champion. Chris Jericho has done it all. Taking inspiration from one of the greatest WWE Wrestlers of all time, he has been able to keep himself relevant.

His initial run as Y2J to tranforming into an self righteous honest man and recently becoming the guy with 'The List' has allowed Chris Jericho to seemlesly be part of the WWE Universe all through the years. While some may laugh that AEW signed him, it's still remarkable that he is able to have good matches at the age of 48.

His exploits outside the ring has given credence to his creative outlook as a podcast host, Rock n Roll Singer with his band Fozzy as well as appearing and hosting reality shows. Chris Jericho has done it all. His upcoming match with Kenny Omega at AEW Double or Nothing, in his current avatar should be another addition in a great prowrestling career.

#1 The Undertaker

The Original Deadman
The Original Deadman

What's left to say about The Undertaker? Like Lucifer, he has many names. The Lord of Darkness, The Phenom,The Man From the Dark Side, The American Bad Ass, Big Evil, The Deadman, The Man From Death Valley and The Demon From Death Valley. The list goes on.

Chris Jericho remarked once that he was the Madonna of pro-wrestling. The man most WWE Superstars should look upto and stay relevant in the business. While in recent times, his body and ability in the ring have been in question, there's no denying that he still holds a place in the hearts and minds of many in the WWE Universe.

While some will question as to when Undertaker will ever retire from WWE, the speculation will continue. It's been rumored that he has a match against Elias at a special event in June in Saudi Arabia.

Who knows when The Undertaker will retire? Till That day should come, his doubters will Rest in Peace.
