Six days before SummerSlam 2019, Kurt Angle was due to referee a match between Cedric Alexander and long-term rival Drew McIntyre in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on the August 5 episode of Raw.

However, sadly for the Olympic Gold medallist, his moment in the spotlight was cut short when the arena lights went out and Bray Wyatt’s “Fiend” appeared in the middle of the ring to, once again, lock in the Mandible Claw on a WWE Hall of Famer.

Later that week, Wyatt described Angle as his “idol” and issued an apology for his actions on Raw. While the reasoning behind the attack on Foley seemed clear – Wyatt stole his finishing move – it is still not known exactly why “The Fiend” targeted Angle.

Wyatt’s new character appears to be torn whether to commit villainous acts, hence the word “hurt” on his gloves, or whether to “heal” (i.e. issue apologies and try to make amends with people he has wronged).

Regardless of the reason, “The Fiend” went on to defeat Finn Balor at SummerSlam in one of the most impactful debuts of all time, and the WWE Universe is eagerly awaiting the next appearance from Wyatt on television!
