The IIconics returned to WWE TV after over half a year away last week and confronted the current Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross. They beat them in a non-title match, which meant that they instantly became the #1 contenders for the Tag Team titles.

They would face off on RAW and have a solid match, only for it to end in DQ after Peyton Royce made a costly mistake. There was a lot of tension and frustration between the two backstage, with the two worrying that it was their last shot at the gold.

It even resulted in Billie Kay slapping Peyton Royce. While that would normally be the sign of a future break-up this seems different. This seems to be a character-progression moment of sorts for the two, where they have actual issues that they work through. The goal of this wouldn't be to split them but strengthen them as a tag team.

That's why it seems to indicate that they're going to get their title shots at Backlash. They could potentially win then, as well.
