WWE Night of Champions will go down at the Jeddah Superdome this Saturday. Fans will witness GUNTHER defend his Intercontinental Championship against Mustafa Ali at the premium live event. The Ring General could very well be confronted by his former adversary at the big show.

WWE Night of Champions could see the return of Drew McIntyre to the company. The Scottish Warrior hasn’t appeared on television since WrestleMania 39. He was moved to RAW as part of the WWE Draft 2023, so his pulling up to the Jeddah Superdome to kick off a feud with GUNTHER for the intercontinental title is still very much a possibility.

Drew McIntyre’s contract situation has been a huge talking point among the internet wrestling community. The former WWE Champion was reportedly frustrated with his position in the company. For those unaware, McIntyre was removed from WWE television after WrestleMania due to an injury. He had worked the biggest show of the year while injured.

Dave Meltzer provided an update on McIntyre on Wrestling Observer Radio ahead of WWE Night of Champions. The veteran journalist noted that any hold on the 37-year-old’s return is due to a creative issue.

“At this point, McIntyre’s return is basically more a creative issue regarding what they want, what he wants, and when they agree to it,” the report said. “Regarding the potential of his leaving, the time he has been out of action can be used to freeze and extend his contract if WWE so desires. WWE in the past has done that with numerous wrestlers who had expressed wanting to leave. It should be noted that McIntyre to the best of our knowledge has not asked to leave, but they have not agreed to a new deal. But there is an obvious spot for him as a heel challenging Rollins.”

Fans might witness a huge upset at WWE Night of Champions

WWE determined a new challenger for GUNTHER last week on RAW. Mustafa Ali survived a battle royal that featured the likes of Johnny Gargano, Chad Gable, and Ricochet, to name a few. Ali will take on the Ring General this Saturday at Night of Champions.

According to a report, a possible loss for GUNTHER this Saturday could trigger a huge main event push for the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of the modern era. If the Ring General loses, it will certainly be a huge upset.

It remains to be seen how the match will go down this Saturday.
