What’s the story?
With news breaking of Jeff Jarrett’s "indefinite leave of absence" from his position at GFW, it’s being rumoured that that departure could have a knock-on effect on the future of Alberto El Patron. According to the latest Rumor Roundup from CagesideSeats.com, "Jarrett’s exit almost certainly means Alberto El Patron will not return to Impact."
In case you didn’t know…
This past week, GFW released a relatively brief statement announcing that Jarrett would be taking "an indefinite leave of absence from his position as Chief Creative Officer to allow him to focus on personal matters." Shortly after, the plot seemingly thickened when PWInsider.com reported that it was Ed Nordholm who’d made the decision, with the general consensus being that Jarrett’s alleged "erratic behaviour" had been the driving factor behind Nordholm’s move.
El Patron, meanwhile, has been off GFW television for a number of weeks now, having been hit with a suspension back in July amidst allegations of a domestic violence incident, though it was later revealed that he was no longer being viewed as a suspect.
Going in depth
El Patron had widely been expected to return to the fold at GFW’s November TV tapings, following the Bound for Glory show. However, with Jarrett now seemingly out of the equation, those plans could be thrown up in the air.
For what it’s worth, Jarrett appeared to play a fairly key role in bringing El Patron to GFW in the first place, when the two shook hands on a "gentleman’s agreement" that led to the Mexican’s signing with the company.
What's next?
If the rumours are true, stay posted for some kind of announcement in the coming days or weeks regarding El Patron’s status and his future with the company. Failing that, it may just be a case of waiting to see if he does indeed return at the post-Bound for Glory TV tapings in November.

Despite these reports, there doesn’t seem to be a great deal in the way of actual evidence that Jarrett’s leave of absence could put paid to plans of El Patron’s return to GFW. At this point, it feels like people may simply be making assumptions based on that "gentleman's agreement" the two once shared.
Realistically, it’s worth keeping tabs on how the situation develops before we jump to any major conclusions on this one.
