El Patron with the unified Titles

What's the story?

Impact wrestling's Alberto El Patron was in a conference call with WrestlingInc.com where he talked about his suspension from the promotion.

In case you didn't know...

Impact Wrestling had suspended Alberto El Patron on July 12th of this year due to a domestic violence incident with his fiancee, Paige, and then subsequently stripped him of his Impact Global Championship.

Alberto made his return to Impact Wrestling in last night's Bound for Glory pay-per-view, where he interfered in the main event and helped Eli Drake retain the World Title.

The heart of the matter

Alberto spoke about how he received a lot of support from his colleagues in Impact Wrestling after that unfortunate incident, especially when evidence of his innocence in the matter was proved beyond doubt. The company had no choice but to suspend him due to being pressured by sponsors and the network.

He regretfully talked about how fans and media blew a normal argument out of proportion. He said that couples argue all the time, where they say things they don't mean in the heat of the moment.

The company and he mutually agreed to the suspension, and El Patron revealed that being stripped of the championship was his idea as he didn't want any special treatment because of who he is.

He said that the rules of the company should apply to everyone, including himself, and that a certain few wrestlers should not get a free pass. He wanted to set an example and would be back in the hunt for the title when his time would come.

What's next?

Having just returned to Impact Wrestling, El Patron made a statement at the expense of Eli Drake. He has his sights set on reclaiming the World Title which he never lost.

What Alberto did was a class act and definitely the right thing to do. Not many would have done what he did in the same situation. For that, he deserves credit. I'm looking forward to what he will do in the coming months.
