Rob Van Dam recently detailed a heated conversation he had with Kurt Angle following one of their matches.
Kurt Angle is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. Although he started as an amateur wrestler, Kurt was able to successfully transition into professional wrestling and learn the WWE style of performing in the ring. Despite being an Olympic gold medalist, there was one former WWE Champion who had a problem listening to Kurt Angle.
During his 1 of a kind podcast, RVD recalled an incident involving Angle where they botched a move in the ring. This led Kurt to asking RVD to listen to him which infuriated the latter and he confronted him post their match. However, Kurt denied the incident took place in the ring and said he didn't mean what he said.
"I remember one time he said something to me. We did something, there was something we might have bumped heads or something in the ring. I don’t know what it was. That match was almost over and he said something. It wasn’t a big deal but something I remember that he was like, 'You’re not listening to me' and I took so much offense to that you know being the veteran that and just being in a position that I was and I’m like 'what? I’m not listening to you?' And the match ended and he left first. I had myself all worked up and when I went back there, I went straight to him."
He continued:
"I was like 'Kurt, let’s talk outside right now' I was like so steaming and he came out there and I said, 'I’m not listening to you? Is that what you tell me? I need to listen to you. Who the f**k are you?' And he’s like, 'What?' And I said, 'You said I’m not listening to you.' He goes, 'No, I didn’t.' I go, 'Dude! That’s exactly what you said.' [Kurt says], 'No, I didn’t say that. Did I? Nah, I don’t think I said that. I didn’t mean it if I said that.' And it was just like that like it was just like over and funny then at that point just because he was being crazy Kurt." [1:36 - 3:16]
What's next for Kurt Angle?
Kurt Angle has retired from in-ring action. However, his many years inside a ring has taken a toll on his body and he has to undergo several surgeries before he can begin to enjoy his retirement life.
He recently underwent back surgery and already plans to go under the knife again. During a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the former WWE Champion revealed his plan to undergo neck fusion surgery in 2024.
"The crazy thing is I haven't been able to really play with them the way I want to because I had my knees replaced and my back surgery. Before that, it was all bothering me. I was really messed up. My neck is messed up. Next is my neck surgery. I'm probably going to have fusion next year." [H/T Fightful]
Let's hope that Angle's neck surgery goes well and he is able to spend the rest of his life without any pain.
