Sheamus has been pursuing the Intercontinental Championship for the past couple of years. He tried to win it when he faced Gunther at Crown Jewel 2022 and has since made it clear that he needs the title to become a Grand Slam Champion in the WWE.
After Bron Breakker won the title from Jey Uso a few weeks ago, the Celtic Warrior has indicated he wanted a title shot. He got his chance last week on RAW, but the match ended in a DQ when Ludwig Kaiser got involved and took out both participants.
