Shinsuke Nakamura's long wait to win a World Championship in WWE could end the day he gets a manager, as per Teddy Long. The former SmackDown GM recently gave his take on The Wrestling Time Machine.

The Japanese superstar challenged Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship in a Last Man Standing Match at Fastlane. While the match has been widely praised, the outcome let down a few people expecting Nakamura to finally win the big one.

Shinsuke Nakamura has had a resurgence since being repackaged as a more ruthless heel, but Teddy Long thinks pairing the former NXT Champion up with a manager would be the perfect creative decision. Long was a massive fan of Nakamura's in-ring work and credited him for his performance at Fastlane.

The former WWE General Manager, however, firmly believed that Shinsuke could ascend to World Champion level with an effective spokesperson by his side:

"A lot of guys are good wrestlers, but they are not good entertainers; that's why they have managers; they can't talk. I think if Nakamura maybe had a little more of a mouthpiece, somebody with him, some representation, that might be one way he would carry that title. But, other than that, I thought it was a great match. Nakamura worked his butt off, man. He is a great guy." [From 08:06 to 08:24]

Teddy Long says he would let Shinsuke Nakamura talk despite having a manager

One of the most fascinating aspects of Nakamura's recent run has been that WWE has allowed him to cut promos in his native language, Japanese.

The well-produced video packages where Shinsuke menacingly talks about exploiting Seth Rollins' injured back have made him look like one of the best heels in WWE.

Bill Apter chimed in and admitted that he was a fan of Nakamura's entertaining promos. Teddy Long clarified that having a manager didn't mean Nakamura would never speak. Long even explained the importance of Nakamura being flanked by someone who can motivate him:

"I would continue having him talk. What the manager's role would be to give him a bit of guidance, you know what I mean? He can come in and say, 'Hey, Nakamura, here's what you need to do to beat Seth Rollins.' You know what I mean?" [From 08:45 to 08:58]
